ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re hiring an experienced Senior Product Manager to lead the strategy and roadmap for Wind River Linux, our embedded Linux distribution based on the Yocto Project. Launched in 2004, Wind River Linux is the leading distribution for highly reliable embedded workloads, offering a minimum ten years of Long Term Support while maintaining a minimal footprint for industrial, telco, government and enterprise workloads.

As Product Manager for Wind River Linux, you will own the strategy and roadmap for this product line end-to-end. You’ll gather input from external customers, sales, market research, fellow product managers, support teams, and partners, and define the future of embedded Linux at Wind River.

Working in close partnership with experienced Engineering and Product Management teams, you will write requirements, justify investments, prioritize the backlog, own your roadmap, do market research, analyze the competition, collaborate with the sales teams on key deals, review defects, engage with extended teams, and evangelize Wind River Linux and the Yocto Project both internally and externally.

ABOUT YOU

You are an experienced business leader who is passionate about building great software and have an affinity for open-source software, Linux, and associated tools and technologies.

  • 8+ years managing the entire product lifecycle, from concept to end-of-life
  • Experience managing open-source products or projects, with Linux-based products strongly preferred
  • Experience with strategic planning, roadmap development, feature prioritization, Agile methodologies and the Product Owner role, and project management
  • Experience writing requirements for engineering
  • Excellent understanding of the Linux ecosystem and open source for embedded workloads. Experience with Yocto and/or participation in Linux projects and committees (e.g. Linux Foundation) are also a plus.
  • Good understanding of security, containerization, and orchestration concepts, cloud technologies and constructs (containers, universal base images, Kubernetes)
  • Strong analytical abilities, with excellent written and oral communication skills with a collaborative mindset
  • Great presenter, public speaker and advocate for your customers and product line.
  • Experience supporting customers, account teams, and partners in solution design and strategic partnerships
  • Ability to move easily between product, services, marketing, strategy, and technical discussions
  • Bachelor’s degree with suitable experience required. Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field, or MBA a plus.

Moderate travel (5-10%)
