PwC New Zealand’s Customs & Trade team helps businesses manage the tax, regulatory and commercial issues involved in moving goods across borders.
As a Senior Associate / Manager in our Customs & Trade team, you’ll advise New Zealand and multinational clients across three core areas: customs advisory and compliance, including customs valuation, tariff classification and broader customs obligations; trade and market access, including Free Trade Agreements, rules of origin and wider trade issues; and indirect taxes on goods, including import GST and excise.
This is a varied role with direct client exposure and the opportunity to build specialistexpertisein a growing area, while working with PwC teams in New Zealand and overseas on cross-border projects.
Your day-to-day could include

Advise clients on a broad range of customs, international trade and import GST matters.

Support Customs reviews, rulings, voluntarydisclosuresand other interactions with New Zealand Customs.

AnalyseCustoms and transactional data to identify compliance risks and duty-saving opportunities.

Advise oncustoms valuation, related-party pricing and transfer pricing adjustments, working closely with PwC’s transfer pricing specialists on integrated matters.

Help clients access preferential tariffs and other forms of duty relief.

Support clients with supply chain changes and emerging international trade issues.

Manage workstreams and contribute to client relationships,proposalsand business development.

Collaborate with PwC teams in New Zealand and overseas on cross-border projects.

A relevant tertiary qualification.

Around 2–4 years’ relevant experience in customs, international trade, tax, law, consulting,industryor government.

Strong analytical,writtenand verbal communication skills.

Commercial judgement and attention to detail.

An interest in international trade, supply chains and how businessesoperateacross borders.

Confidence working with clients and managing competing priorities.

An interest in developing deep Customs & Tradeexpertise, taking increasing ownership of client relationships and projects, and building your career in an area of growing importance to New Zealand businesses.
