Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an EHS Specialist to join the Starline Team in Reading, UK. The EHS Specialist will be responsible for facilitating compliance and delivery of the company occupational policies & procedure through information, instruction, training, and supervision. Supporting and advising all management teams, employees, and contractors at the UK Reading Site.

What Will You Do?

To successfully deliver and maintain a health and safety change programme, to embed and drive a positive safety culture across the organisation as well as ensuring the timely delivery of associated underpinning health and safety management action plans and operational programmes.

Supporting the health and safety management system, including ISO 45001, and other current standards and legislation and to oversee consistency of delivery of health and safety and identify and pursue significant issues.

Supporting the environmental management system, including ISO 14001, and other current standards and legislation and to oversee consistency of delivery of health and safety and identify and pursue significant issues.

Key Deliverables

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a positive health, safety & environmental culture
  • Support of staff, volunteers, and other Starline / Legrand stakeholders
  • Sustain and improve audit performance and ensure NCRs from EHS audits are recorded, actioned, and closed out
  • Support the EHS Manager during regulatory inspections and ensure requirements are recorded, actioned, and closed out satisfactorily.
  • Keep up to date on legal, local, and other requirements that may affect the company
  • Prepare hazard mitigations, develop, and implement risk assessments, CoSHH and procedures
  • Continually reduce accidents and incident rates by pro-active solutions
  • Ensure accidents, incidents, and near misses, are reported and investigated according to company procedures
  • Conduct accident reviews and assist with back-to-work programmes
  • Collect and Report EHS performance daily, weekly, monthly as required on a site and corporate level
  • Update and implement EHS policies and procedures
  • Support monthly EHS Committee meetings
  • Develop Safe Systems of Work with the Operational Teams
  • Identify any EHS Training requirements alongside HR Department
  • Liaise with HR on health and wellbeing issues particularly where a risk assessment has identified a need, including supporting HR and line managers in carrying out individual risk assessments when required

Education

  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent (Minimum)
  • 1 year of EHS experience, 3 years preferred.
  • Experience in facilities management will also be considered.

Experience

  • Recent proven experience of working in a health and safety role or facilities management - at a similar level helping deliver compliant health and safety practices
  • Experience in supporting health and safety management audits and inspections against ISO 14001 / 45001 and implementing action plan to meet audit findings
  • Experience in training and mentoring to develop health and safety knowledge and expertise
  • People Management experience including providing positive support, advice, and encouragement in colleague’s development of health and safety

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all aspects of health, safety, and risk management
  • A comprehensive knowledge of current health and safety legislation, management and standards Participates in training of new associates on the line
  • Ability to interpret and provide authoritative advice on health and safety and risk management issues
  • Knowledge of workplace wellbeing initiatives and how they add value to an organisation
  • Ability to prioritise work to ensure tasks are completed within time constraints
  • Provide performance feedback and reporting to the business ongoing and as part of the formal annual performance review cycle
  • Good organizational and communicative skills
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of or training in ISO14001:2015 Standard is an advantage, training to internal auditor level preferred
  • Knowledge of or training in ISO45001:2018 Standard is an advantage, training to internal auditor level preferred
