Mechanical Technician II

About The Role
Supports maintenance operations by performing mechanical, electrical, and structural repairs. Assists mechanics, electricians, and mobile technicians in maintaining plant machinery, equipment, and facilities to meet production needs in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner.
- Strong industrial maintenance work experience at an OSHA or MSHA facility
- Ideal candidate will have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED and 2 years of experience in maintenance dept at an operational plant
- Be willing to be an on-call and/or work 12 hour rotating shift schedule unless otherwise specified
- Required to have welding, torch cutting, plasma cutting test or proven experience in these fields High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3-5 years of experience operating machinery is preferred.
- Conduct pre-shift and post-shift inspection on all production equipment during your shift that you perform maintenance on or inspect.
- Complete pre-operation inspection sheets on any mobile or specialized equipment used during your shift daily
- Follow all company safety and health policies
- MSHA, US Silica, Millen Plant and all Task Training to be completed prior to the performance of your daily job responsibilities.
- Maintain LOTO and Try policy at all times.
- Keep all high traffic areas clean and clear of any trash, debris, tools, hoses, or other miscellaneous items (use proper cleaning procedures for oil and other lubricants leaks and spills)
- Follow and maintain all applicable standards related to Environmental Compliance.
- Perform daily/weekly inspections of all equipment in your area of any defects or guarding/safety issues
- Make adjustments to equipment accordingly
- Inspects work areas and equipment prior to beginning tasks.
- Fabricates equipment and facilities as required.
- Installs new equipment, machinery, and facilities using blueprints, schematic diagrams, installation manuals, etc.
- Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment and machinery in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
- Troubleshoots, diagnosis, and repairs equipment and machinery.
- Determines proper methods and materials used in repairs.
- Hoists, transports, and positions equipment as required using cranes, hoisting apparatus, and powered vehicles.
- Assists Electrical staff when required.
- Additional duties as assigned
- High level of safety and quality
- Ability to multi-task at a fast-pace (at times), work in outside conditions during all seasons, climb multi-levels by stairs & ladders, work from elevated platforms, use hand tools (shovel, hammer, wrenches, etc.)
- Good problem-solving skills
- Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) Knowledge - Preferred
- Forklift experience - Preferred
- Computer Software - Preferred
- Warehouse experience - Preferred
