Summary of the Role

Responsible for expediting, orderbook management, and administrative support activities required to support manufacturing operations. The role acts as a key interface between Nordson, its suppliers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring timely communication of supply status, delivery commitments, and potential risks.

Key responsibilities include monitoring supplier performance against required delivery dates, expediting critical and overdue orders, maintaining accurate ERP system data, preparing reports, coordinating communication between suppliers and internal teams, and providing administrative support to the Supply Chain function. The position requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

This position is offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Role and Responsibilities

Supplier Coordination & Expediting

  • Act as the primary point of contact with suppliers regarding delivery schedules, overdue orders, shortages, and supply-related issues.
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance and proactively expedite orders to support production requirements.
  • Run ERP reports to identify overdue purchase orders, material shortages, and potential supply risks.
  • Maintain expediting reports and provide timely updates on supplier communications, delivery status, and key risks to relevant stakeholders.
  • Update supplier delivery commitments and related information within the ERP system.
  • Escalate significant supply or delivery concerns to the Purchasing Manager.
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain accurate delivery information and ensure timely responses to queries.
  • Expedite or defer deliveries in line with business requirements and production schedules.
  • Maintain visibility of critical material shortages and communicate risks appropriately.
  • Work closely with Planning, Sales, Purchasing, Stores, Manufacturing, and Customer Service teams to ensure effective communication of material availability and delivery commitments.
  • Support the resolution of day-to-day supply chain issues affecting operational performance.

Orderbook Management

  • Monitor open purchase orders to ensure delivery dates remain accurate and current.
  • Review and maintain orderbook data to support effective planning and scheduling activities.
  • Ensure ERP records accurately reflect supplier commitments and material availability.
  • Identify and investigate discrepancies within purchasing and supplier records.
  • Produce regular reports relating to overdue orders, supplier performance, and delivery risks.

Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative support to individuals, small teams, and the wider Supply Chain department.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, spreadsheets, meeting agendas, and minutes using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Maintain department files, records, documentation, and electronic filing systems, ensuring appropriate record retention and document control in accordance with company procedures.
  • Act as the first point of contact for warehouse and stores-related queries, ensuring issues are directed to the appropriate person where required.
  • Prepare and maintain supplier records, procurement documentation, and departmental reports.
  • Assist with data entry and the maintenance of ERP and other business systems.
  • Support departmental meetings through scheduling, preparation of documents, and distribution of meeting notes where required.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support the implementation of supply chain best practices and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, data accuracy, and supplier performance.
  • Maintain compliance with company procedures, quality standards, business processes, and ERP data requirements.
  • Support departmental and organisational objectives through effective teamwork and communication.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Good standard of education.
  • A-Level, HNC, or equivalent qualification, or relevant experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, supply chain, planning, administration, customer service, or similar business environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate data records.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently, use initiative, make sound decisions, and proactively resolve issues.
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in expediting, supplier coordination, or orderbook management.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
  • SAP experience.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and supply chain processes.
  • Experience communicating with suppliers and managing delivery-related issues.
  • Knowledge of MRP, Kanban, Lean Manufacturing, or similar planning methodologies.
