As a Data Governance Senior Associate at JPMorganChase, you will play a central role in ensuring that critical data is well-defined, accurately documented, and ready for use across Compliance, Finance, Risk, and Controls. You will partner with Data Owners, Technology, and governance teams to maintain high-quality metadata, support data quality processes, and help resolve issues that impact downstream data consumers. Job responsibilities
- Document, publish, and maintain metadata including business names, definitions, source application details, and governance attributes to ensure data consumers can understand and trust critical data assets
- Partner with aligned Data Owners to support metadata quality, clarify data management expectations, and reinforce governance accountability across the organization
- Support end-to-end governance of data elements and datasets, including intake triage, completeness review, documentation, approval workflows, and publication readiness
- Assist with Data Quality rule writing, monitoring, testing, validation, and effectiveness reviews to ensure rules accurately reflect business intent and control requirements
- Research and support remediation of data quality issues, tracking open items, documenting outcomes, and driving appropriate closure actions in partnership with relevant teams
- Maintain awareness of downstream data usage across Compliance, Finance, Risk, and Controls to ensure governance activities align with business and regulatory needs
- Review metadata quality reporting, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend actions to reduce rework and strengthen governance outcomes
- Communicate clearly and proactively with Data Owners and partner teams regarding governance priorities, issue status, and required actions
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on data engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Demonstrated ability to translate business context into clear metadata definitions, governance documentation, and data standards
- Strong stakeholder partnership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across business, technology, product, data quality, and control functions
- Comfort reviewing and interpreting operational metrics, data quality rules, issue trends, and rule logic
- Strong written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail, follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities
- Ability to work independently, escalate appropriately, and drive tasks to completion in a complex, matrixed environment
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Familiarity with enterprise data governance frameworks, data cataloging tools, or metadata management platforms
- Experience supporting data governance programs within financial services, risk, compliance, or regulatory environments
- Exposure to data lineage, data classification, or critical data element programs
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including Chief Data Office, Finance, Risk, or Compliance functions
- Knowledge of data quality rule design, issue management workflows, or governance intake processes
