We are looking for a Healthy Homes Manager to join our Housing Repairs and Maintenance team.

About the role

As our Healthy Homes Manager you will play a key role in delivering our response to Awaab's Law and managing housing condition hazards across our housing stock. You will lead the Council's Damp & Mould service delivery along with future compliance with Awaab's Law Phased Implementation, helping to ensure our residents live in safe, healthy and compliant homes.

Key responsibilities include

  • Leading the Council's compliance with Awaab's Law and housing condition regulations.
  • Managing investigations into damp, mould, condensation and other housing hazards.
  • Undertaking building pathology assessments and identifying the root cause of property defects.
  • Overseeing repairs from diagnosis through to completion, ensuring works are delivered to the required standard and within statutory timescales.
  • Working closely with Housing, Property Assets, Compliance and Repairs teams to deliver effective solutions for residents.
  • Managing specialist contractors and monitoring quality, performance and value for money.
  • Assessing risks to resident health and wellbeing and ensuring appropriate support for vulnerable households.
  • Producing performance reports, compliance information and recommendations to support service improvement and regulatory compliance.
  • Supporting Housing Ombudsman investigations, regulatory inspections and continuous improvement activity.
  • About you
  • We are looking for a knowledgable and motivated housing professional with experience of managing housing condition cases and delivering excellent outcomes for residents.

You will have

  • A qualification in Building Surveying, Building Pathology, Construction, Building Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing damp, mould, and housing condition issues within residential or social housing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Awaab's Law, HHSRS, Homes Fit For Habitation and other housing legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience investigating property defects and identifying effective long-term solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to a wide range of audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make evidence-based decisions.
  • Experience managing contractors, monitoring performance and driving service improvements.
  • The ability to manage complex cases, prioritise workloads and meet statutory deadlines.
  • A resident-focused approach, with a commitment to improving health, safety and wellbeing outcomes.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, contractors and external stakeholders.
