About The Role
The Emergency Communications Center (ECC) Dispatcher position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure workplace environment through the operation of the ECC. The ECC Dispatcher will monitor alarms, CCTV and control systems, while answering emergent and non-emergent calls for service with the expectation to provide the best most efficient customer support possible, keeping in mind critical thinking and emergency prioritization of needs in a dynamic environment. The ECC Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating security and emergency responses and maintaining logs of calls for service. The Dispatcher's core role is to promote a safe environment for patients, visitors and hospital employees.
Schedule
- Full-time 64-80 hours every 2 weeks
- Days and Evenings | Two 12 hours shifts and two 8 hour shifts | every other wknd
- Onsite at the St. Cloud Hospital
Pay and Benefits
- Starting pay begins at $26.22 per hour; exact wage determined by years of related experience
- Pay range: $26.22- $40.11 per hour

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1 years of emergency or high stress dispatching experience.
- Prior Health Care Security/EMS Dispatch experience preferred.
- Accredited Verbal De-escalation Certification, EMR or EMT or Paramedic Medical Certification, ARMER Dispatcher Certification, APCO or Other Accredited Professional Dispatch Certification preferred.
- Strong communication skills (written, typed, and verbal).
- Effective listening skills (radio, phone, face to face).
- Ability to recognize self and to maintain calm professionalism in stressful and emotional situations.
- Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse populations.
- Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet and maintain any necessary background checks and or testing as aligned with the position and functions.
- Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal communication in high stress emergent situations to complete the job functions as mentioned above.
- Ability to relay confidence with those in need and to project a positive first impression.
- Ability to take thorough and concise information under difficult and stressful situations.
- Ability to type quickly and accurately.
- Basic understanding of customer service and desire to provide help.
- Foundational understanding of emergency response practices and procedures.
