Mechanical Technician

Wood is currently seeking experienced Mechanical Technicians working a 21/21 offshore rotation to support a Romanian based project for a minimum of 6 months.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a major gas infrastructure project, supporting the safe and efficient operation of metering and production facilities during day and night shift operations.

Duration: Minimum 6 months

The Mechanical Technicians will support key project phases including well clean-up operations, gas plant back-gassing, and hydrocarbon export to shore. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing mechanical permits under the Control of Work system, providing shift handovers and daily updates to the Production Supervisor, and working closely with the Production and Start-up teams to ensure all mechanical and rotating equipment remains safe, operational, and compliant with start-up procedures.

• Support offshore start-up and commissioning activities to ensure a safe and efficient transition into production
• Support export pipeline commissioning and hydrocarbon transfer to onshore facilities
• Provide technical and operational support during commissioning, start-up, and early production phases
• Execute back gassing activities for the GPP export pipeline and support hydrocarbon export to onshore facilities
• Manage the Control of Work (CoW) process for mechanical permits
• Prepare shift handovers and provide operational updates for daily reporting
• Coordinate with the Production Supervisor and Start-up Team to ensure mechanical and rotating equipment are operating safely and within specifications
• Monitor equipment performance and support troubleshooting to maintain operational reliability
• Enforce compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and safety standards
• Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate control measures
• Lead toolbox talks and safety briefings
• Act as a first responder during emergencies and support incident response activities
• Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement in HSE performance

Expected

• Valid BOSIET/FOET, HUET, and offshore safety certifications
• Valid offshore medical certificate (OGUK or equivalent)
• Strong expertise in offshore mechanical and rotating equipment, including pumps, valves, power generation systems, and platform cranes
• Sound knowledge of HSE practices, hazard identification, risk assessment, and emergency response
• Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills during equipment failures and operational upsets
• Experienced in mechanical isolation, de-isolation, and equipment reinstatement activities
• Ensure mechanical systems are available and ready in accordance with start-up procedures and work packs
• Committed to operational excellence, asset integrity, and safe offshore operations

Desirable

• Engineering degree is preferred but not mandatory
• Experience working within the North Sea energy sector, with an understanding of offshore operations
