Strategy Manager – Portfolio Programs Steering
Telenet · Belgium
About The Role
Working in our Portfolio & Capability Steering Tribe
Strategy only creates value when it is delivered. Our biggest strategic moves — the transformation and delivery programs that reshape how we serve customers and run our business — are where ambition meets reality. Each of these programs needs to start with clear ownership, stay closely steered as it runs, and get help quickly when it hits a blocker. Someone has to make sure programs are set up for success from day one, that leadership keeps a clear line of sight on how they are progressing, and that the decisions they depend on are taken on time.
That someone is you!
As Strategy Manager – Portfolio Programs Steering, you sit where strategy turns into delivery. You make sure every major program launches with a clear ownership structure, you keep senior leadership informed and aligned as programs progress, and you drive the transformation and unblocking needed to keep them moving. This is a role with real impact: your work helps determine whether the company's most important programs actually land.
Your role as Strategy Manager – Portfolio Programs Steering
- Translate strategy into action. Turn the company's long-term vision into concrete business strategies, transformation programs and — where relevant — M&A opportunities.
- Set the strategic agenda. Identify the key issues, analyse them thoroughly, and give executive leadership the recommendations needed to steer for long-term value creation and business plan delivery.
- Challenge the status quo. Test existing strategies and ways of working against external benchmarks and market analysis, and propose better alternatives where appropriate.
- Support the long-range planning cycle. Translate long-term trends and strategic themes into a credible business plan, in close collaboration with business leaders.
- Lead strategic projects. Initiate and lead cross-functional initiatives that sharpen strategic thinking, coordinate activities and bring stakeholders together.
What you will also take on as Strategy Manager – Portfolio Programs Steering
You will be the central point of contact for how our strategic programs are launched and steered at portfolio level. Concretely, you will:
- Set programs up for success. At the start of each program delivery, ensure the strategy is clearly translated and activated, and that a clear ownership structure is in place from day one.
- Steer programs at portfolio level. Set up and regularly refresh the value and delivery dashboards that give a consolidated view of how programs are performing.
- Keep leadership informed and aligned. Run regular SLT Inform & Align moments, bringing the right people together around the right topics at the right time.
- Drive timely decisions. Make sure the key portfolio topics connected to program delivery are teed up and decided on time.
- Remove blockers. Where needed, drive the business transformation that sets a program up to succeed or clears blockers and speed breakers — working hand in hand with the Transformation team.
This is very much a “spider in the web” role. Your impact comes less from formal authority and more from your ability to bring people together, keep programs moving, and drive the right conversations to a decision. Strong lateral collaboration and facilitation skills are essential.
