Component Assembly Technican

Waikato Milking Systems is looking for a skilled Component Assembly Technician to join our Component Assembly team. Reporting to the Component Assembly Team Leader, you will be responsible for assembling, testing and inspecting mechanical, pneumatic and electromechanical components to meet engineering specifications, quality standards and production schedules.

You’ll work closely with a supportive production team, ensuring our products are built to the highest standard of accuracy, safety and reliability.

Key responsibilities include

• Assemble mechanical, pneumatic and electromechanical components to specification
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Use hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment safely and effectively
• Conduct functional testing and quality inspections
• Identify and report defects or non‑conformances
• Maintain accurate production records and documentation
• Support continuous improvement and Lean/5S principles
• Collaborate with team members to meet production targets

To be successful in this role, you'll have

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
• Experience using hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments
• Good manual dexterity and ability to perform repetitive tasks

Preferred but not essential

• Trade certificate or technical qualification
• Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic or electromechanical assemblies
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S
• Experience with quality management systems
