Special Skills/Attributes
(required for performing the job effectively)
- Develop and review Fire & Life Safety (FLS) designs for high-rise buildings from concept through construction.
- Ensure compliance with the National Building Code (NBC 2016), relevant IS standards, NFPA guidelines (where applicable), and local Fire Department regulations.
- Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to ensure fire safety integration.
- Design and coordinate fire protection systems including:
- Fire hydrant systems
- Automatic sprinkler systems
- Fire pumps and pump rooms
- Fire water storage tanks
- Fire alarm and detection systems
- Smoke management and pressurization systems
- Emergency lighting and exit signage
- Portable fire extinguishers
- Coordinate with architects, MEP consultants, façade consultants, structural engineers, and project teams to resolve design clashes.
- Obtain design approvals from statutory authorities and support the process of Fire NOC approvals.
- Review consultant drawings, calculations, BOQs, technical specifications, and vendor submissions.
- Conduct technical evaluations of fire protection equipment and recommend suitable systems.
- Participate in value engineering initiatives without compromising life safety requirements.
- Monitor design changes and ensure updated documentation is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical support to project execution teams during installation, testing, commissioning, and final inspections.
- Assist in preparing tender documents, technical specifications, and bid evaluations for fire protection systems.
- Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with approved fire safety designs.
- Support emergency preparedness planning and recommend improvements in fire & life safety measures.
- Keep abreast of the latest fire safety technologies, codes, and industry best practices.
