About The Role
The First-Year Representative supports the Casing Junior Development team by promoting the program to first-year students and assisting across marketing, external relations, and event execution. The role serves as a connection between CJD and the first-year community, helping increase program awareness, engagement, and participation.
Time Commitment
2–3 hours/week from September 2026 – December 2026 | 4–8 hours/week from Jan 2027 – April 2027
Main Responsibilities

- Promote Casing Junior Development to first-year students and encourage program participation
- -
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to create promotional materials, manage social media, and increase student engagement
- -
- Support external outreach, including speaker recruitment and sponsorship initiatives
- -
- Assist with event planning, logistics, and day-of execution
- -
- Provide insight into first-year student interests and needs to help improve CJD programming and outreach
- -
- Represent CJD within the first-year community and identify opportunities to increase awareness and engagement

Anticipated Learning Outcomes
The First-Year Representative will gain hands-on experience in event planning, marketing, outreach, and student engagement while developing strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. The incumbent will gain exposure to different areas of Casing Junior Development, build relationships with students and external stakeholders, and develop their leadership and initiative through cross-functional collaboration. The role will also provide valuable experience and foundational skills for future leadership opportunities within CJD and the CUS.
