About The Role

  • Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Graduate Engineer to join our Transportation team.
  • In this role, you are expected to work on a team providing support to a licensed Civil Engineer while learning the
  • company’s standard practices and local agency codes. As part of our Public Infrastructure team, you will be dedicated
  • to becoming proficient in Design Software, performing technical calculations, preparing plans and specifications, and
  • assisting with other project management and engineering tasks. In pursuit of a Professional Engineering license, the
  • applicant must be organized, self-motivated, and able to collaboratively solve complex issues on time and within
  • budget.
  • Expected start date: January 2026 or May/June 2027 Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Assist project team in design of public infrastructure work
  • Provides technical, day-to-day design support to the Project Engineer, including drafting support for plan production activities
  • Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations
  • Prepares drawings and visual aids
  • Prepare various exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D, Bluebeam, MicroStation, Open Roads, HEC RAS, or other related engineering software
  • Follow internal QA/QC procedures, engineering standards, and best practices.
  • Observes construction activities and works to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product
  • Works to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems
  • Coordination with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issues
  • Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to develop calculations in Excel, reports and letters in Word, and presentations in PowerPoint
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or equivalent field of study, and/or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months
  • Engineer-in-Training Certificate, or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months
