Job Summary

The Ends Conversion Press Mechanic is responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-speed presses used in the production of can ends. This role ensures optimal machine performance, product quality, and adherence to safety standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on ends conversion presses, including mechanical adjustments, lubrication, and component replacement.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production machinery to minimize downtime.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate press machinery according to production specifications and quality standards.
  • Monitor press performance, product quality, and scrap rates, making necessary adjustments to maintain efficiency and quality.
  • Conduct regular inspections of machinery to identify potential problems and implement proactive solutions.
  • Collaborate with production operators and other maintenance personnel to ensure smooth and continuous operation.

  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used accurately.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Train and mentor junior mechanics or operators on machine operation and basic maintenance tasks as required.

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Press Mechanic, Industrial Mechanic, or similar role, preferably within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and precision machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
