About The Role
- We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic with demonstrated expertise in earthmoving machinery and crawler crane systems.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for planned and corrective maintenance of a diverse heavy equipment fleet, working within the Plant Workshop.
- The role demands a high standard of mechanical workmanship, adherence to OEM specifications, and a proactive approach to minimizing equipment downtime.
- The position requires the ability to work independently in field conditions as well as within a structured workshop environment.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and condition-based maintenance on earthmoving equipment including bulldozers, motor graders, hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, and articulated dump trucks in accordance with OEM service manuals and intervals
- Carry out troubleshooting and corrective repair of crawler cranes (Liebherr, Manitowoc, Kobelco, or equivalent), including slewing ring, boom hoist, main hoist, and undercarriage systems
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems: cylinders, pumps, motors, control valves, and hose assemblies
- Inspect, overhaul, and replace engine components, transmission systems, final drives, differentials, and brake assemblies
- Conduct undercarriage inspection and wear measurement on tracked equipment; recommend component replacement based on wear percentage
- Read and interpret hydraulic schematics.
- Complete all work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance records accurately and on time.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with HSE policies, LOTO (where applicable).
- Liaise with the Workshop Superintendent and supervisor to report equipment condition, parts requirements, and estimated repair completion time
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of earthmoving equipment (CAT, Komatsu, Volvo, Liebherr, or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years of experience specifically on crawler cranes (lattice boom or telescopic)
- Proficiency in hydraulic system diagnosis and repair
- Ability to read and interpret OEM service manuals, hydraulic schematics, and electrical wiring diagrams
- Valid light vehicle or forklift driving license (preferred)
