About The Role

This position is being recruited by Pakistan Single Window (PSW) on behalf of the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA). NAFSA is being established as a strategic national initiative to strengthen Pakistan’s agri-trade ecosystem through enhanced regulatory oversight, facilitation, and modernization of food safety and trade processes. The selected candidate will be part of NAFSA’s foundational team, contributing to the development of systems, processes, and institutional capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide local operational supervision of phytosanitary inspection and compliance activities for plant imports/exports at the assigned point of entry/exit or regional station.
  • Supervise inspectors and ensure compliance with notified SOPs for documentary verification, physical inspection, sampling, and reporting.
  • Coordinate verification of phytosanitary treatments (fumigation, heat/cold treatment, etc.) and ensure treatment parameters and safety compliance are met.
  • Support issuance workflows for phytosanitary certification (exports) and clearance decisions (imports) by ensuring completeness and accuracy of inspection outcomes.
  • Coordinate with Customs and other border agencies during inspection and clearance processes to facilitate compliant and timely trade.
  • Report interceptions, non-compliances, suspected fraud, and biosecurity risks promptly and prepare official records
  • Maintain local compliance records and submit periodic operational reports to headquarters
  • Support audits, verification missions, and training of field staff as directed.
  • Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the reporting officer in support of NAFSA’s mandate.

Requirements

Education

  • B.Sc. (Hons.) (Minimum sixteen years of education) in Agriculture with specialisation in Entomology, Plant Protection, Plant Pathology, Weed Science or related field

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in plant quarantine, border inspection, export/import compliance, or field operations.
  • Knowledge of phytosanitary inspection and sampling procedures and relevant SOPs.
  • Strong coordination and reporting skills; proficiency in computer applications.
  • Willingness to work in shift/field environments and at busy border points.
