About The Role
The Online Auto Category Manager trains with the Product Manager to develop and design national marketing strategies for AutoZone. This role involves researching and evaluating new product opportunities within assigned categories, negotiating with vendors on national promotions of products, and managing the online product assortment and digital merchandising strategies.
- Participates in all team activities and decisions.
- Trains with Product Manager on selecting quality vendors, negotiating programs, and analyzing market research.
- Using that research to put the right products in the right stores at the right prices.
- Trains with Product Manager on adding and deleting products in response to industry changes and customer demands, testing new products, troubleshooting supply chain issues.
- Uses information from sales, gross profit and various ad hoc reports to make sure their assigned categories meet established performance targets.
E-Commerce & Digital Merchandising Duties
- Develop and implement e-commerce strategies to enhance online sales and profitability.
- Manage online product assortment, ensuring accurate and appealing product listings.
- Optimize online placement decisions, including product positioning and promotional displays on the website.
- Collaborate with the digital marketing team to develop and execute online promotions and campaigns.
- Analyze e-commerce performance metrics and make data-driven decisions to improve online sales.
- Drive and influence digital marketing to support category directives and strategies.
- Survey other websites, comparing product assets and merchandising functionality to our site.
- Conduct data analysis and reporting of web, tele sales, and eCommerce KPIs.
- Maintain accountability for daily, weekly, and monthly business performance monitoring and reporting for the category to senior management.
- Routinely work with and present to senior management.
- Develop and implement category strategy to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
- Collaborate across functions to drive business goals (including Marketing, Sales, Business Development, and Operations).
- Partner closely with merchants to develop and enhance the brand, site, and competitive positioning.
- Maintain industry expertise.
- Run daily/weekly/monthly reports related to sales and inventory.
- High School Diploma
- Demonstrated capability to lead, communicate, and present category initiatives effectively, with the ability to influence and collaborate professionally across all levels of the organization.
- Comprehensive knowledge of merchandising retail math/financial skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

- Bachelor’s degree in retail or business
- 3-5 years of retail experience, preferably in the automotive industry
