Applied AI Engineer - AI & Automation

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a founding-level engineering role at a seed-stage company building an AI-powered operating system for the tax advisory industry in Germany. You will design and ship the agentic AI foundation that powers real workflows for tax professionals, owning the full stack from architecture to production deployment. This is a high-impact, hands-on position where speed of iteration matters as much as technical depth.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design and build the agentic AI infrastructure that underpins the company's core product capabilities.
• Ship the first production AI use cases into live tax advisory workflows, from document processing to research automation.
• Own AI infrastructure end-to-end, covering architecture decisions, tooling choices, and deployment.
• Iterate quickly on real feedback from advisory teams to improve features and reliability.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 3 to 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong track record of shipping production-ready features.
• Hands-on experience building agentic systems, including LLM orchestration, agent frameworks, and tool use, no low-code tools.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals; experience with NestJS and/or React is a strong plus.
• Product-minded approach that prioritises business outcomes over model benchmarks alone.
• University degree in a relevant field.
• Familiarity with RAG pipelines, vector databases, or document processing is a plus.
• Background in tax, legal, accounting, or professional services is a plus.
• Comfort working in an early-stage, fast-moving startup environment.
• German language proficiency is a plus.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary range: 60,000 to 120,000 EUR annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

LOCATION

On-site in Berlin, Germany. This role requires regular in-person presence and is not available on a remote basis.
