Accounting Assistant

Bilgewater Group is a Chicago-based diversified services company founded in 2003. We operate across two core divisions: food service and care.

Our food service division manages a network of quick-service and counter-service locations across the greater Chicagoland area, serving thousands of customers every day at high-traffic venues, including commercial districts, transit hubs, and retail centers.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day accounting activities and help maintain accurate financial records. This role is a good fit for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with numbers, documents, and spreadsheets in a remote environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Assist with routine accounting and bookkeeping tasks
• Enter and maintain financial information in accounting systems and spreadsheets
• Review invoices, payments, and financial documents for accuracy
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
• Assist with account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
• Maintain organized financial records and documentation
• Prepare basic reports and provide administrative support to the accounting team

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, administration, or a similar role
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets, and financial records
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
• Good organization and time-management skills
• Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally
• Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment
• Reliable internet connection and workspace
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with accounting or bookkeeping software
• Knowledge of accounts payable or accounts receivable processes
• Experience with invoice processing or account reconciliation
• Background in food service, retail, hospitality, or other multi-location businesses

COMPENSATION

$20–$27 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
