Specialist / Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon - South African Board

Position Overview

A leading healthcare organization in the UAE is seeking an experienced Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon with South African Board qualification to join its cardiothoracic surgery team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive surgical care for patients with complex cardiac and thoracic conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level cardiothoracic surgical services.
• Perform elective and emergency cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures.
• Manage patients with coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, thoracic conditions, and other complex cardiothoracic disorders.
• Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments and develop individualized surgical plans.
• Perform post-operative management and monitor patient recovery.
• Collaborate closely with cardiologists, intensivists, anesthetists, pulmonologists, and other multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and cardiac/thoracic team meetings.
• Manage complex and high-risk surgical cases in accordance with clinical expertise.
• Maintain accurate medical records and comply with UAE healthcare regulations and hospital policies.
• Participate in clinical governance, teaching, research, audit, and quality-improvement activities.

Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
• Recognized South African Board qualification in Cardiothoracic Surgery .
• Relevant consultant-level clinical experience.
• Current specialist registration and good professional standing.
• Experience in a tertiary-care or teaching hospital is preferred.
• Eligible for DOH/DHA medical licensing , depending on the location.
• Strong surgical, clinical, communication, and leadership skills.
