About The Role

Join Fullscript, a leading health and wellness company, as a Staff Engineer on our internal AI and automation team. In this deeply hands-on role, you will design and operate production systems that connect large language models with company data, tools, and workflows. You will work with a high degree of autonomy, defining the technical path and carrying meaningful work from an ambiguous problem through production. Your impact will extend beyond the systems you personally build, as you help determine what GSD should tackle next, influence architectural decisions, and raise the team's technical capability.

  • Architect and build production-grade internal AI tools and shared platform capabilities used by teams across Fullscript.
  • Lead the technical design and delivery of complex AI integrations, including MCP-based tool use, agentic workflows, context layers, model gateways, and workflow automation.
  • Shape GSD’s technical roadmap by identifying reusable platform opportunities, challenging architectural assumptions, and connecting engineering investments to measurable business impact.
  • A track record of building internal tools, developer platforms, or enterprise systems that were adopted by real users and produced measurable operational impact
  • Practical cloud and DevOps experience operating reliable systems in AWS or a comparable environment, including CI/CD, containers, serverless infrastructure, observability, and infrastructure as code
  • Hands-on experience building and operating AI-enabled applications in production, including strong familiarity with MCP or comparable tool-use protocols, agents, context management, and LLM integrations
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, including demonstrated impact as a technical leader on complex production systems
  • Deep backend engineering expertise in Ruby, Python, or a comparable language, along with the ability to learn new languages and frameworks as the problem requires
  • Clear, credible communication and Staff-level influence, with the ability to explain decisions, challenge other experienced engineers constructively, share knowledge, and connect technical work to business outcomes
  • The ability to work independently through ambiguity, define your own path forward, and drive substantial initiatives to completion without waiting for detailed requirements or a queue of tickets
  • Strong systems-design fundamentals, including APIs, integrations, distributed systems, data flows, authentication, authorization, and pragmatic architectural trade-offs
  • Experience with React, TypeScript, or GraphQL and the ability to contribute to full-stack internal applications
  • Experience with n8n, Temporal, or another workflow orchestration platform
  • Familiarity with LLM evaluation and observability platforms such as Langfuse
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, Cloudflare Workers, or similar infrastructure and deployment tooling
  • Experience building technology in healthcare or another regulated environment governed by standards such as HIPAA or SOC 2
