About The Role

Commerce Night's Technology Associate will support the VP Technology in the development and execution of an interactive full-stack software platform that enhances the attendee experience during the gala, while also managing various technology implementations across the event planning process.

### Time Commitment

  • First semester: 6-8 hours/week
  • Second semester (prior to Commerce Night): 10-12 hours/week

### Term of Employment
October 2026 - March 2027
### Main Responsibilities

  • Assist Commerce Night’s VP Technology with the following:
  • Lead the development of an interactive digital experience used by 450+ attendees during the gala (e.g. audience engagement features)
  • Collaborate with the Junior Reps, Marketing, and Logistics to ideate ways that technology can be used to bring engagement ideas to life
  • Conduct thorough testing prior to the event and resolve any technical issues that arise
  • Monitor platform performance live during the gala
  • Oversee technology implementations across the team, including ticketing systems and internal management software
  • Associates are also expected to:
  • Attend all Commerce Night GMs and department meetings
  • Respond to all Slack communications within 24 hours
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and meet set internal deadlines
  • Provide ideas and support for the overall vision and planning of the Commerce Night gala
  • Assist with the overall planning and execution of the Group & Individual Awards Information Session and the Awards Night Gala alongside the team
  • Participate in Commerce Night boothing activities to promote awards

### Qualifications

  • Some previous experience with web development or software projects (either academic, personal, or professional)
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language and basic software development frameworks
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work well with others
  • Resourceful problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced settings
  • Previous experience with event tech is an asset, but not necessary

### Anticipated Learning Outcomes

  • Own the end-to-end development lifecycle of a high-traffic event platform
  • Gain exposure to cross-functional collaboration with marketing, logistics, and student leadership teams
  • Build resilience and quick-thinking skills through live event troubleshooting
