AP - Asphalt Plant Operator

About the Company

Our client is a well-established New Zealand infrastructure company specialising in civil construction, regional asset maintenance and water infrastructure. They are seeking experienced road-maintenance professionals to join their operations across Canterbury.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine and cyclic road maintenance activities, including patching, pothole repair, drainage clearing, and vegetation control
• Operate and/or assist with heavy machinery and maintenance trucks as required
• Conduct road inspections and identify defects or hazards requiring attention
• Perform pavement, chipseal, or asphalt repair work as directed
• Set up and maintain traffic management controls around live traffic sites
• Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and site-specific safety plans
• Respond to emergency callouts, including outside standard working hours
• Maintain equipment and vehicles in good working order and report faults promptly
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and crew members, following instructions accurately
• At least two years of verifiable experience in road maintenance, civil construction, or heavy-equipment operation
• Demonstrated experience relevant to the specific position
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Ability to work outdoors and undertake physically demanding duties
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively in English
• Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, overtime, or emergency callouts when required
• Current driver's liscence appropriate to the role
• Ability to pass pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol, reference, and police checks
• Willingness and ability to relocate from the Philippines to Canterbury, New Zealand

Desirable Experience

• Operating graders, excavators, rollers, loaders, or maintenance trucks
• Road inspection or cyclic-patrol work
• Asphalt, chipseal, drainage, or pavement repairs
• Working around live traffic
• Recognised heavy-equipment competency certificates
• Heavy-vehicle driver's licence
• Previous employment outside the Philippines
