Who We Need
We are seeking a detail-oriented, technical QA / Data Collection Engineer to assist with test execution, issue reporting, and hardware-level troubleshooting. In this role, you will run proprietary collection software, execute structured test plans, and perform exploratory testing to ensure seamless performance across target environments.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical foundation in PC hardware and basic networking, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to communicate clear, actionable bug reports in written English.
Responsibilities
- Software Setup & Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain collection and QA software on personal hardware that meets target operational specifications.
- Test Execution: Perform structured test plans alongside ad-hoc exploratory QA before and during data collection runs.
- Issue Reproduction & Logging: Identify and reproduce bugs, gather necessary crash logs and screenshots, and write clear, step-by-step reproduction instructions.
- Communication & Escalation: Document and report findings concisely via Slack in written English, escalating critical issues to team leads as appropriate.
- Hardware & Network Validation: Ensure test hardware accurately reflects fleet target behaviors (e.g., target 1080p60 performance with an RTX 3060-class GPU or equivalent) and maintain redundant internet connections (e.g., dual ISP) to guarantee session reliability.
- Feedback Filtering: Serve as a first-line triage layer, filtering out noise to deliver concise, high-signal technical feedback to client engineering teams.
Requirements
- Technical Background: Educational background in IT/Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience in technical support and troubleshooting.
- Hardware & Systems Knowledge: Strong familiarity with Windows PC hardware setup, driver updates, GPU configuration, and fundamental networking.
- Technical Writing: Demonstrated ability to read system logs and communicate technical details clearly in writing.
- Communication: Fluency in written English for daily asynchronous and live collaboration via Slack.
- Schedule & Availability: Reliable full-time availability with flexibility to overlap working hours with client teams as needed.
- Hardware Specs (BYOD): Personal computer setup capable of meeting fleet target performance (e.g., RTX 3060-class GPU / 1080p60 performance target).
- Network Redundancy: Dual ISP or equivalent backup internet connection strongly preferred to maintain high uptime.
Nice to Have
- Prior game QA, software QA, or data-collection ops experience
- Familiarity with crash dumps, observability tools, or bug trackers
