About The Role

We’re hiring a Lead CNC Mill Machinist for a precision machine shop supporting the aerospace, defense, medical, and semiconductor industries .

This is a hands-on lead role for an experienced CNC mill machinist who can independently take complex jobs from setup through production while serving as a technical resource for other machinists on the floor. You’ll be responsible for difficult setups, troubleshooting, first articles, and helping less-experienced machinists solve problems and improve their capabilities.

Schedule & Compensation

  • 1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
  • Full-time, direct-hire opportunity
  • Optional overtime available
  • $35–$45+/hr , depending on experience and technical capabilities

What You’ll Work With

  • 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC mills
  • Fanuc controls
  • Complex, tight-tolerance components
  • Stainless steel, aluminum, and other precision-machined materials
  • Aerospace, defense, medical, and semiconductor work

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead technical resource for CNC milling on the shop floor
  • Independently perform complete setups on 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC mills
  • Take complex jobs from setup and first article through production
  • Support and troubleshoot setups performed by other machinists
  • Read complex blueprints, work instructions, and GD&T
  • Select tooling and establish work and tool offsets
  • Make G-code edits and corrections at the machine
  • Prove out first articles and troubleshoot dimensional, tooling, and machining issues
  • Hold tight tolerances on complex precision components
  • Perform in-process inspection using micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, and other precision inspection equipment

Requirements

  • Strong experience as a CNC Mill Setup Machinist
  • Ability to independently perform complete machine setups
  • Strong 3-axis milling experience required; 4- and 5-axis experience highly preferred
  • Fanuc control experience
  • Machine-side G-code editing and troubleshooting
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
  • Experience machining complex parts to tight tolerances
  • Strong understanding of tooling, speeds and feeds, offsets, and workholding
  • Proficiency with manual precision inspection equipment
  • Ability to diagnose and solve machining and dimensional issues
  • Previous experience as a lead, trainer, mentor, or go-to machinist strongly preferred
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, medical, semiconductor, or other high-precision machine shops highly preferred
