About The Role

Job Overview

The HVAC Technician is responsible for the integral ongoing maintenance and repair of our HVAC at our retail buildings. Will be heavily involved in supporting the safe, smooth, and successful day-to-day operations of the store.

Duties can vary from day to day and are assigned via a Help Desk platform or at the request of management. The HVAC Technician needs to have a good knowledge of skills including heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration systems.

! Travel Required. HVAC Technician will travel between TX AFW Stores as needed (Webster, Katy, and Conroe, TX). Travel cost is reimbursed.

Job Responsibilities & Duties

Typical duties include but are not limited to

  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on HVAC units.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, modify, lubricate, and test building systems and equipment. Including routine maintenance, cleaning and part replacement on HVAC systems.
  • Schedule and perform preventative, corrective, and general maintenance repairs for HVAC systems in a safe and timely manner.
  • Assist with building rehabilitation and turnover projects within established timelines, including HVAC work.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose HVAC system malfunctions and determine appropriate repair methods.
  • Inspect, monitor, repair, maintain, and operate mechanical systems, motors, compressors, pumps, fans, ducts, pipes, thermostats, and switches.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on required systems; replace filters when necessary.
  • Read complex blueprints, piping, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections; Enter all information into CMMS systems.
  • Comply with company safety program and trainings.
  • Work productively and cohesively in a diverse and multicultural environment.
  • Assist management with daily operations, including communication with staff, residents/customers, and vendors.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and completing maintenance-related projects.
  • Resolve maintenance issues and respond to questions related to work methods and processes.
  • Inspect, maintain, and inventory tools, equipment, and maintenance areas in compliance with corporate policies and OSHA standards; order parts and materials as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance/shop area.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with other team members to complete repairs efficiently and safely.
  • Complete required work orders and documentation, including parts and materials used, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Understand and follow all safety policies, including safe lifting practices and safe tool operation; use PPE as required.
  • May respond to emergency maintenance calls and after-hours service requests as needed.
  • Apply applicable technical standards and professional judgment when making maintenance decisions.
  • Other duties to be assigned/directed by supervisor.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Job Requirements

  • Previous training/experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) repairs and maintenance required. Preferably has 5+ years of HVAC experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record is required.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Skills in operation of various machinery, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to have a flexible schedule and work all shifts, holidays, and weekends.
  • Commitment to AFW’s safety policies and procedures and ability to promote awareness.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Capacity to effectively work independently of direct supervision.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED. Maintenance related degree/certifications preferred. 5+ years of HVAC experience required. Building maintenance or similar roles may be accepted. Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

Compensation

Pay Rate: Starting at $60,000 and up depending on education and experience

Physical Requirements

  • Capacity to maneuver in confined and at times congested areas.
  • Capability to stand, walk, stoop, & bend for 8 hours or more daily.
  • Lifting, gripping, bending, kneeling, stooping, and moving merchandise 8 hours or more daily.
  • Continuous use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back.
  • Ability to lift, lower, move, carry, push and pull all sizes of merchandise up to 100 lbs. and the skill to handle/manipulate merchandise up to 250 lbs. frequently.
  • Able to work in various environments with different lighting, loud exterior noise, and flooring.
