MEP Project Engineer – Data Centres Location: Ireland Salary: €80,000–€90,000 per annum, depending on experience Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated MEP Project Engineer to join our growing Data Centre team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of large-scale, mission-critical projects within one of the fastest-growing sectors in the construction and engineering industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the delivery of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) systems throughout the full project lifecycle, from design and technical coordination through construction, commissioning and final handover. Working closely with Project Managers, Design Teams, Consultants, Contractors and Specialist Suppliers, you will ensure that all MEP works are delivered safely, to the highest technical standards, on programme and in accordance with project requirements. Key Responsibilities Project Delivery & Coordination Coordinate and manage the delivery of MEP systems across complex data centre projects. Support the Project Manager in the planning, execution, and successful delivery of project milestones. Coordinate interfaces between mechanical, electrical, public health, architectural, structural and specialist systems. Review project drawings, specifications, technical submittals, and design information to ensure compliance with project requirements. Identify technical risks, design clashes, and coordination issues, providing effective solutions to maintain programme and project progress. Manage and respond to technical queries, RFIs and design changes in conjunction with the wider project team. Attend and actively contribute to design, technical, progress, and coordination meetings. Technical Engineering Provide technical oversight and coordination of critical MEP infrastructure, including: HV and LV electrical distribution systems UPS systems and standby generation Cooling, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems Chilled water and DX cooling systems Fire protection and life safety systems BMS, EPMS and associated control systems Water services and drainage systems Review equipment selections and technical submissions to ensure compliance with specifications, performance requirements and applicable standards. Support the development and implementation of coordinated MEP installation strategies. Ensure systems are designed and installed to meet the resilience, redundancy and availability requirements associated with mission-critical facilities. Construction & Site Management Monitor the progress and quality of MEP installation works on site. Carry out site inspections and ensure works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Work closely with contractors and specialist suppliers to resolve technical and installation issues. Support programme management by identifying potential delays and coordinating recovery actions where required. Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, and quality throughout all project activities. Commissioning & Handover Support the development and coordination of MEP testing and commissioning activities. Work with commissioning teams and specialist vendors to ensure systems are fully tested and perform in accordance with the project requirements. Assist with the coordination of integrated systems testing and final project handover. Review commissioning documentation, test records, O&M manuals, and final technical documentation. Candidate Profile The successful candidate will ideally have: A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline. Demonstrable experience in an MEP Project Engineer, Building Services Engineer, MEP Coordinator, or similar project delivery role . Experience working on data centre, mission-critical, pharmaceutical, industrial or other technically complex projects . Strong knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health building services. A good understanding of data centre infrastructure and mission-critical design principles, including redundancy and resilience requirements. Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants and specialist suppliers. Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and engineering documentation. Knowledge of relevant building regulations, industry standards and health and safety requirements. Experience using BIM coordination tools, including Revit and Navisworks , would be advantageous. Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills. The ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities in a fast-paced project environment. A proactive, collaborative and commercially aware approach to project delivery. Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
