Te tū ranga – The role

Joi n the Capital and Solvency team within the Financial Stability Group , which leads RBNZ’s work to support the stability o f New Zealand’s financial system . The Capital and Solvency team are r es p onsibl e for two key areas of policy to support financial stability : how much capital banks are required to have and the solvency requirements for insurer s . The team recently led a high-profile review of capital settings, which involved high-quality policy analysis, research and cost benefit analysis.

As an Advisor , you will lead projects, workstreams and analysis that shape policy development and decision-making across the Bank. Your work will inform senior leaders , strengthen engagement with industry and public sector stakeholders, and contribute thought leadership in your areas of expertise.

In this role you will

• L e ad ana lytical, policy and research projects, guiding and coaching junior colleagues.
• Prepare clear, high-quality advice and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Engage and influence senior leaders across RBNZ, government , industry and international peers.
• Lead industry engagement and build effective relationships with external stakeholders.
• Provide subject matter expertise to strengthen organisational knowledge and decision-making.
• Provide quality assurance for the work of junior colleagues.
• Contribute to cross-Bank initiatives, embedding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Build strong professional relationships and foster collaboration across the Bank.
• Support your manager in prioritising work programmes and deputise as required .

Ō pūkenga – About you

To be successful in this role you will bring

• A t least 7 years’ professional experience in public policy, regulation, financial services or a related field.
• A degree in economics, finance, law , pu blic policy or a related discipli ne.
• A proven trac k record of delivering complex poli cy, anal ytical or financial projects.
• Stron g interpersonal skills , with the ability to influence and build trust with diverse stakeholders.
• Exce llent wri tten and verbal communication skills for technical and non-spec ialist a udiences.
• Experience coaching or mentoring colleagues and leading small teams.
• Knowledge of govern me n t proc esses, legislation and Cabinet decisi on-mak ing.
• Sound judgement, holistic thinking and the ability to identify policy-relevant issues.
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Eligibi lity to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of NZ National Security Clearance.

The anticipated appointment range for this role is $152,325 to $177,713 (actual salary will be dependent on your skills and experience).
