About The Role

We are looking for a talented Electronic Systems Product Advisor to join our Cummins Inc. team in Seattle, Washington .

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways

  • Lead the design and development of electrical and electronic hardware systems for innovative hybrid mining applications from concept through validation.
  • Translate complex stakeholder and product requirements into robust technical solutions that improve system performance, quality, and reliability.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration between electrical, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and supplier teams to deliver integrated product solutions.
  • Optimize system architectures, controls, and calibration strategies to enhance product functionality and customer value.
  • Resolve complex technical challenges through structured root cause analysis, data-driven decision-making, and corrective actions.
  • Influence product architecture and design direction by leveraging systems thinking, modeling, simulation, and engineering expertise.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers while providing technical leadership across projects and small working teams.
  • Improve engineering processes, tools, and development practices that support scalable, efficient, and high-quality product delivery.

To be successful in this role, you will need the following

  • Demonstrated expertise in electrical and electronic systems engineering, with the ability to develop innovative solutions across complex mechatronic and hybrid system environments.
  • Strong systems engineering mindset with experience translating stakeholder needs into technical requirements, validating solutions, and managing multidisciplinary integration challenges.
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, influence technical decisions, and deliver results through effective collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management.
  • Advanced problem-solving capabilities with a track record of driving root cause resolution, continuous improvement, and quality-focused engineering outcomes.
  • Previous experience and good working knowledge of standard electrical/electronic test equipment.
  • Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical architecture and best practices
  • Working knowledge of engineering standards and regulatory requirements relevant to product design, validation, and manufacturing.
  • Ability to coach and mentor engineers while contributing technical leadership across projects, teams, and business functions.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
  • Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Expectations

  • Prior Technical Specialist/Specialist Engineering equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving, quality decision making and providing technical direction and leadership to a project team(s). Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.
  • Additional Responsibilities unique to this Position
  • This role supports HEV Kit Systems design within First Mode, a Cummins business focused on developing next-generation hybrid solutions for industrial mining applications. As part of the Electrical Engineering team, you will play a key role in designing and delivering hardware systems from concept through validation, helping bring innovative products to market.
  • Working in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, you will navigate ambiguity, partner across multiple engineering disciplines, and contribute to technical solutions that span electrical, mechanical, and integrated system boundaries. As a member of a small, agile team, you will have the opportunity to influence all phases of product development, including ideation, design, testing, and implementation.
  • The ideal candidate brings a broad engineering perspective, with the ability to understand and solve challenges that exist at the intersection of electrical and mechanical systems. This individual demonstrates strong ownership, maintains well-organized work practices, communicates effectively with stakeholders, and drives projects forward with minimal oversight.
  • This position offers the opportunity to influence product architecture and technical direction while making a meaningful impact on the business. Although not a direct people leadership role, the successful candidate will be expected to mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and lead small cross-functional teams when needed.
  • The ideal candidate will possess strong proficiency in engineering design and analysis software, including Altium, Creo Schematic, Zuken, LTSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, and similar platforms.
  • The candidate selected should have a solid understanding of power electronics
  • Occasional travel to a testing facility located approximately 90 minutes south of Seattle, WA may be needed. International travel to customer locations may also occur but is not a regular requirement of the role.
