Senior Marketing Manager
Wipertech · Brunswick, VIC, Australia
About The Role
Wipertech is a profitable, self-funded Australian eCommerce business that has spent more than 15 years building a leading position in its category.
Since starting in 2009, we’ve sold more than 2.5 million wiper blades across 850,000+ orders , served 615,000+ customers, and earned over 59,000 five-star reviews . We’ve delivered double-digit growth for around five years running, with another stage of growth ahead.
We’re now looking for a Senior Marketing Manager who can lead an established specialist marketing team while staying genuinely hands-on.
This is a senior role, but it is still a working role. You’ll set direction and lead the team, but you’ll also get into the numbers, personally drive important projects and make sure things actually get delivered.
About Wipertech
We sell premium wiper blades and automotive accessories direct to drivers across Australia and New Zealand.
Wipertech started with a simple idea: buying replacement wiper blades shouldn’t be confusing, expensive or annoying. We made it easier for drivers to find the right blades for their exact vehicle and fit them themselves.
More than 15 years later, we’re still Australian-owned, profitable, cash-flow positive and self-funded.
We’re a small, commercially sharp team where people stay close to the work and where the decisions you make show up quickly in the numbers.
About the role
This isn’t a role about running one channel.
We already have strong specialists across performance, content and partnerships, and digital and CX, plus a set of external agencies.
What we need now is someone to be hands-on and lead the whole function: turn commercial goals into a plan, run the team, own the marketing rhythm, and do the work to drive the things that matter.
You’ll report directly to the Directors and lead a small specialist team. Two managers report to you across Performance Marketing and Content & Partnerships, with the Digital & CX Manager working alongside you.
The team is already in place and operating well. This is not a restructure or turnaround brief. The opportunity is to keep the operating rhythm moving, bring the different parts of marketing together, make strong commercial decisions and help Wipertech continue growing.
The key thing we’re looking for is a marketing leader who understands and owns the commercial outcomes, not the deepest specialist in any single channel.
What you’ll own
- Commercial performance and planning: annual, quarterly and monthly marketing planning, budget phasing, forecasting and reporting, with a clear view from revenue through to contribution margin.
- Hands-on execution: personally drive and project-manage important initiatives rather than simply delegating them, including product launches, partnerships, promotions and cross-functional marketing projects.
- Revenue management: help lead pricing and promotional planning, one of the business’s major commercial levers.
- Team leadership: set direction, coach the team, manage priorities and create accountability while staying close to the day-to-day work.
- Marketing integration: bring performance, content, partnerships and digital/CX together around one clear plan.
- Go-to-market: work closely with Product on positioning, launch planning and activation for new products.
- Brand stewardship: make sure Wipertech is represented consistently across channels and initiatives, with specialist partners supporting where required.
You’ve worked close to the commercial engine of a consumer or eCommerce business and are ready to lead an established marketing function while staying close to the work.
- You know physical-product eCommerce and how to sell products profitably. You’re comfortable with the numbers, from MER through to contribution margin, and can pull data points together yourself. Shopify-world backgrounds are very relevant.
- You’ve genuinely led marketing plans and people, including navigating the more difficult parts of people management.
- You’re still hands-on. You’re happy building the plan, doing analysis, running projects, working directly with agencies and getting involved when something needs to move.
- You can move comfortably between strategy and execution.
- You can turn strategy into a real calendar with clear owners, measures and follow-through.
- You’ve owned meaningful budgets, forecasts and commercial trade-offs, and you communicate clearly with founders and Directors.
- You can lead specialists who may know their individual channels more deeply than you do.
- You take ownership rather than waiting for information or direction to come to you.
- You’re low-ego, commercially minded and comfortable having a point of view while remaining open to being challenged.
Nice to have
- Automotive or aftermarket experience
- Physical-product DTC/eCommerce experience across categories such as outdoor, home and lifestyle, beauty, sporting goods or apparel
- Australian and New Zealand or trans-Tasman marketing experience
- Pricing, promotions, revenue management or product go-to-market experience
- Founder-led, self-funded or entrepreneurial business experience
- A genuine interest in cars or the automotive category
You don’t need to be a car expert, but people who genuinely find the category interesting tend to engage with the market properly rather than operate at a distance from it.
This is a senior marketing role where you still get to build and do things yourself.
You’ll have broad commercial ownership, direct access to the Directors and a capable specialist team around you, without the layers and bureaucracy that often come with larger organisations.
Wipertech’s Brunswick office is basically an office inside an automotive workshop: proper workspaces and meeting rooms, but also a product-testing area, cars coming and going, music playing, an on-site gym, full kitchen, BBQ and smoker, wood fireplace and the occasional dog wandering through.
Most Fridays, the office crew cooks lunch together, and wins are celebrated properly, from record sales results and product launches to EOFY. Our recent team conference finished with a day driving race cars at Winton Motor Raceway.
The culture is relaxed but accountable: have a point of view, back it up, stay open-minded, take initiative, keep your commitments and keep politics and ego out of the way.
Other perks
- On-site gym
- Full kitchen, BBQ / smoker and wood fireplace
- Free on-site parking and secure bike storage
- Around five minutes from Anstey Station and close to Sydney Road trams
- Access to training, modern software and specialist partners
- Exposure to the full commercial engine of a profitable, self-funded eCommerce business
