Director of Product Management (A.I.)

Join CommerceIQ, a pioneering retail tech company, as the Director of Product Management (A.I.). In this role, you will be at the forefront of AI technology, working to develop and scale agent-based solutions for the retail industry. You will be responsible for identifying customer pain points, creating and testing AI-driven prototypes, leading customer discovery sessions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. This is an onsite position based in Mountain View, CA, with a focus on work-life balance and professional development.

• Identifying and validating customer pain points that are suitable for agent-based automation, and owning the AI-first product strategy.
• Creating and testing AI-driven prototypes, driving quick iteration cycles using real customer feedback.
• Leading deep-dive discovery sessions with senior retail & e-commerce stakeholders, and translating ambiguous customer workflows into structured agent-enabled solutions.
• Demonstrated interest in AI: LLMs, RAG, evals, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, etc
• Willingness to travel up to 40% for customer immersion and pilots
• Comfortable with ambiguity, high ownership, and fast-paced 0 to 1 environments
• Strong product intuition and ability to simplify complex systems into compelling UX
• 6-12 years of experience in product management or equivalent roles (AI prototyping, ML PM, solutions engineer with PM mindset)
• Experience leading customer conversations, running discovery interviews, and testing early concepts
• Hands-on experience with prototyping tools or notebooks (e.g., LangChain, Streamlit, Python, etc.). By no means do you have to be an engineer, but you must have a technical mindset and associated aptitude
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Computer Science, or a related field
• Background in retail, e-commerce, or SaaS for enterprise workflows
• Experience building agent-based systems, copilots, or AI assistants
• Prior startup or incubation team experience
