Our partner is an industrial automation company specializing in material handling and transportation systems, primarily serving the FMCG/CPG industry.

Job Summary

The Logistics and Purchasing Manager is fully responsible for the overall supply chain operations in Romanian organization and leads the Purchasing, Planning & Logistic functions. The Logistics and Purchasing Manager works to represent the company in relationship with the suppliers and the local authorities in relation to the transport issues.

Main responsibilities

  • Develops the organization's logistics strategy and coordinates its implementation together with the middle management team
  • Supervises the forecast of demand for services and products to meet the business needs and keeps a constant check on stock levels to maximize business efficiency;
  • Conducts research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality;
  • Assures the liaisons between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers;
  • Identifies potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships with them;
  • Negotiates and agrees contracts and monitories their progress checking the quality of service provided;
  • Handles technical details relating to international transportation, such as customs regulations and any necessary documentation
  • Evaluates the costs of transportation, services and inventory within any budget or distribution strategy.

Key skills and qualifications

  • The Logistics and Purchasing manager will possess excellent leadership, management, communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a demonstrated sense of purpose, planning, organization, and timely execution;
  • 5 to10 years working experience in Manufacturing industries, with at least 5 years in a senior role with full responsibility for purchasing and supply chain;
  • The Logistics Manager must have knowledge of national and international import/export legislation and must be able to effectively troubleshoot any issues that may arise in international freight transportation;
  • A minimum of a master degree in related discipline (preferably technical);
  • Understanding of budgeting and financial planning is appreciated, as this role involves agreeing annual budgets;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Fluent English
  • Extensive ERP system knowledge
  • Reporting and analytical skills
