About The Role
Network Engineer (Hybrid - Columbia, SC)
The Network Engineer ensures the reliability, security, and scalability of network infrastructure by managing operations, implementing solutions, and driving innovation. This role focuses on optimizing performance, supporting cloud migration, and leveraging automation and emerging technologies to enhance efficiency.
What You'll Do
Operational Integrity
- Review and resolve tier 1 and 2 network incidents, outages, and service requests in alignment with SLAs and best practices.
- Execute network-related changes and deployments, ensuring compliance with governance and performance standards.
- Develop automation solutions to reduce manual effort and streamline network operations.
- Provide on-call support for critical incidents and ensure timely resolution of outages.
- Monitor and report on KPI metrics to maintain service quality and operational efficiency.
Engineering and Implementation
- Create and maintain documentation for network design, topology, compliance, and operational processes.
- Implement configuration changes and cloud migrations using automation tools and best practices.
- Adhere to governance standards for change management and cloud architecture.
- Execute preventative maintenance and project-related changes with clear communication and rollback plans.
- Share knowledge and train team members on new implementations and technologies.
Architecture and Innovation
- Support adoption of emerging network technologies and architectures aligned with organizational standards.
- Implement secure and compliant solutions for cloud migration and data center modernization.
- Enhance technical expertise through training in cloud platforms, automation, AI, and orchestration tools.
- Collaborate with vendors to align technology strategies with organizational goals.
- Stay current with industry trends and leverage AI and automation to improve network performance.
What You'll Need
- Associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Strong knowledge and experience of AI and scripting/automation tools such as Ansible/CICD, Terraform, etc
- 1-3 years of comparable work experience.
- Preferred certifications: (CCNA) Cisco Certified Network Technician & (CCNP) Cisco Certified Network Professional
- Skilled with in LAN/WLAN switching, SD-WAN routing, and network security
- Familiarity with load balancing, converged networks, and cloud environments.
- Proficiency in automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and network monitoring solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in AI and automation.
