As a Financial Crime Apprentice, you'll help shape how one of the world's leading advisory businesses uses emerging technologies to manage financial crime risk, improve processes and solve complex business challenges.

You'll play an active role in Propel, WTW's transformation programme, which uses AI and automation to redesign how we work. You'll help evaluate, test and implement AI-powered solutions while developing expertise in risk, data and business operations, all whilst earning a nationally recognised qualification and a competitive salary.

At WTW, we believe difference makes us stronger. We want our workforce to reflect the different and varied markets we operate in and to build a culture of inclusivity that makes colleagues feel welcome, valued and empowered to bring their whole selves to work every day. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive work environment throughout our organisation. We embrace all types of diversity.

Whilst on the Level 3 Compliance & Risk Officer apprenticeship within KYC Operations, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting financial crime processes, risk management and AI-driven transformation initiatives. Combining practical business experience with a nationally recognised qualification, this programme will give you exposure to financial crime operations, process optimisation, data analysis, emerging technologies and cross-functional collaboration. Throughout the apprenticeship, you'll develop a broad range of technical, analytical and professional skills while contributing to real business projects and learning how risk and compliance requirements are applied in practice. Whilst on the apprenticeship, you'll:

  • Support the delivery of financial crime and KYC processes.
  • Analyse data, workflows and controls to identify risks and opportunities for greater efficiency.
  • Assist with testing, evaluating and implementing AI-powered tools and digital assistants.
  • Help embed financial crime requirements into practical day-to-day business activities.
  • Respond to queries relating to KYC checks, financial crime risk and operational processes.
  • Support process reviews and contribute recommendations based on findings and evidence.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to support change and adoption initiatives.
  • Develop knowledge of risk, compliance, financial crime and operational best practices.
  • Complete the Level 3 Compliance & Risk Officer apprenticeship programme alongside your day-to-day responsibilities.

A typical week includes reviewing management information and case data, testing new technology solutions, participating in team meetings, and working with colleagues across different functions to understand how the business operates. You'll receive support from managers and mentors, contribute to ongoing projects, and dedicate time to your apprenticeship studies and professional development.

This role is well suited to someone who enjoys solving problems, understanding how things work and using technology to improve outcomes. You'll be encouraged to ask questions, challenge existing ways of working and explore how AI and emerging technologies can help manage risk more effectively. Over the course of the programme, you'll develop a blend of analytical, technical and business skills that could lead to future opportunities in Financial Crime, Risk & Compliance, Business Analysis, Project Management, AI & Digital Transformation, Process Improvement, Technology Change & Adoption, or Consulting.

Everyone in the team will be there to help you learn and grow throughout your 15 months on the apprenticeship programme. To transform your tomorrow with WTW, you’ll need:

  • 5 GCSEs at grade 9–4 (A*–C) or equivalent, including English and Maths.
  • An interest in how businesses manage risk, make decisions and use technology.
  • A careful, organised approach and an interest in working with information and solving problems.
  • A willingness to build your communication skills and work with colleagues and clients, with support.
