About The Role

Rebuilding Hope Sexual Assault Center is seeking to hire a passionate and capable individual to

serve as a Client Access Specialist.

Rebuilding Hope’s mission is to provide support, promote healing, and partner to end sexual

violence. Rebuilding Hope aspires to build communities that do not tolerate oppressive social

norms, behaviors, or systems that promote sexual violence or exploitation. Communities where

those who have been harmed are believed and supported in pursuit of their individual paths of

healing. Communities where sexual violence does not exist, and their people are educated and

empowered to center full choice, consent, and safety. For 50 years, Rebuilding Hope has served

as the sole community sexual assault center and only state-accredited Community Sexual

Assault Program to Pierce County and, since 2023, to Kitsap County.

Nature of Work

This is an on-site position located at the Rebuilding Hope headquarters in Tacoma, WA.

It involves extensive contact with victims of sexual abuse, sex trafficking, and their families.

The Client Access Specialist will assist all clients requesting advocacy and therapy services, and

work with clients who need more assistance in equitably accessing Rebuilding Hope’s services,

often due to economic, language, cultural, technological, or transportation barriers. The

employee in this position is subject to the policies and procedures of the Agency, the Program,

and the direction of the Advocacy Department.

Primary Objective: The Client Access Specialist provides outreach and support services (in

Pierce and Kitsap Counties) to primary and secondary victim-survivors of sexual assault and

abuse. This position will assist Rebuilding Hope in better meeting the needs of underserved

clients and providing better access to services. The employee in this position must have the

ability to exercise independent initiative and judgment, subject to the policies and procedures

of the agency and the direction of the Advocacy Manager and Clinical Director. This work

involves direct assistance to victims requesting therapy and advocacy services within Rebuilding

Hope. This is a 30-40 hour/week on-site position.

Responsible to: Advocacy Department, specifically Advocacy Supervisor and/or other

designee.

Salary & Benefits

hourly (DOE); $28.50-$31.75

The Agency pays 100% of premiums for health, dental, and vision care plans for full-time

employees, as well as 2% contribution of the eligible employee’s salary to the Agency’s SIMPLE

IRA retirement plan. The Agency offers generous accrual rates for paid personal, sick, and

vacation time off from work in addition to 13 paid holidays.

Location: Pierce & Kitsap Counties. This position requires physical presence at service locations

within the assigned counties to provide direct client services and fulfill assigned responsibilities.

This Position may occasionally be required to drive longer commutes within Washington State

for work purposes; mileage is reimbursed per the Agency’s policy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Services

  • Contact survivors who have requested therapy services with our agency and assess

current behavioral health needs, verify insurance benefits/sliding fee scale eligibility,

assist survivors with completing intake forms as needed, and schedule clients for intake

appointments.

  • Conduct follow-up to clients on the therapy waitlist, to include support and

information/referrals,

  • Proactively manage/schedule client appointments and requests for services for the

Therapy and Advocacy Departments.

  • Maintain therapy program requests for services/waiting list.
  • Assist clients with community referrals.
  • Assist in therapy program outreach and collaborative relationships with the community.
  • Assist with therapy insurance billing.
  • Assist with entering Department(s) data into Infonet.
  • Provide advocacy client services (to include but not limited to client walk-ins, helpline

coverage, etc) as needed.

  • Work collaboratively across departments to support Agency, Departmental, and

programmatic services and assist with client needs.

  • Flexible work style to meet the needs of clients.
  • Additional Departmental duties as assigned.

Meeting and Training Requirements

  • Complete 30+ hours of sexual assault training - provided by Rebuilding Hope or other

approved Core training).

  • Must maintain at least 12 hours of ongoing training annually that is approved by the

Director.

  • Commit to an individual training and development plan with your supervisor that

centers on cultural sensitivity, community diversity, equity, access, and inclusion

concepts and practices relevant to your position and your representation of Rebuilding

Hope to the community and clients we serve.

  • Other meetings and trainings as required.

Administrative

  • Uphold all agency and Departmental Policies and procedures, to include the

Confidentiality Policy and Mandatory Reporting Policy.

  • Complete all client and service paperwork and reporting, including releases, consent

forms, and database entries, in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner in accordance

with Department(s) Policies.

  • Remain available and fit for duty during all scheduled shifts. Able to provide services

with appropriate judgment, professionalism, and responsiveness.

  • Submit all timesheets and requests for reimbursements in accordance with the

predetermined deadlines/due dates.

Distinguishing Characteristics

The Client Access Specialist must demonstrate competency in working with individuals

impacted by sexual violence, behavioral health concerns, and trauma, including an

understanding of the dynamics and impacts of commercial sexual exploitation and human

trafficking. The position requires strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal

skills, along with the ability to demonstrate leadership, exercise sound and independent

judgment, and respond appropriately to changing client and organizational needs. The

employee must be able to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds,

collaborate with community partners and other agencies, and maintain a flexible,

client-centered approach to service delivery. The Client Access Specialist is expected to

demonstrate a strong commitment to Rebuilding Hope’s mission, values, philosophy, and goals,

as well as to trauma-informed care, victim/survivor empowerment, confidentiality, and

respectful, equitable service delivery.

Qualifications

The Client Access Specialist must have extensive working knowledge and awareness of the

foundational issues related to sexual violence, child sexual abuse, commercial sexual

exploitation and sex trafficking, and trauma. This employee must demonstrate an ability to

effectively engage and communicate with clients, Rebuilding Hope staff, and community

partners and professionals, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective time

management, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and

manage multiple responsibilities are essential. Experience with insurance verification is desired,

and prior professional experience working with survivors of sexual assault, individuals impacted

by behavioral health concerns, or other trauma-related services is preferred. Strong computer

skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and Google Drive/Google Workspace

applications, are also preferred. The successful candidate must demonstrate professionalism,

sound judgment, cultural responsiveness, and the ability to maintain confidentiality when

working with clients and sensitive information.

The desired experience and training for the Client Access Specialist includes

  • bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or Human Services (or equivalent),
  • plus at least one year of experience in providing advocacy, counseling or direct human

services;

  • or a combination of four years of relevant education, training and experience to

include direct client or human services. Past or current graduate-level assessment/

counseling training is a plus but not required.

Transportation: The Client Access Specialist must have their own means of transportation to

facilitate client engagement in the community, program outreach, training activities, and other

duties as assigned; mileage and other direct transportation expenses are reimbursed for this

position. The employee must be able to provide a valid driver’s license and proof of current,

personal automobile insurance valid for Washington state.
