This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Workday Extend Architect based in Australia.
As a Workday Extend Architect, you will lead the design and delivery of tailored applications using the Workday Extend <platform.You> will work directly with customers to understand complex business needs and translate them into scalable, commercially viable solutions.The role combines technical architecture, hands-on implementation, customer engagement, and strategic <consulting.You> will take ownership across the full solution lifecycle, from scoping and requirements gathering through deployment and ongoing <support.You> will also help shape best practices and strengthen Extend capabilities across a specialist Workday practice.The environment is collaborative, customer-focused, and globally connected, with flexibility to work remotely.This is an opportunity to influence modern HR technology while mentoring others and helping organizations solve meaningful business challenges.
Accountabilities
- Lead Workday Extend projects from initial scoping and requirements gathering through architecture, development, deployment, and support.
- Design and implement applications that address complex business and technical requirements while remaining scalable, maintainable, and commercially viable.
- Work closely with customers to understand their needs, challenge requirements where appropriate, manage expectations, and ensure solutions are fit for purpose.
- Apply expertise across Workday Extend and related technologies to deliver robust solutions aligned with customer objectives.
- Develop strong, trusted relationships with customer stakeholders and communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, solution design, technical documentation, and implementation approaches.
- Collaborate with specialist consultants and wider project teams to ensure successful delivery of Extend solutions.
- Guide and educate colleagues within the Workday practice, sharing knowledge and establishing effective approaches to Extend development.
- Support the adoption of relevant technologies, development techniques, and industry best practices.
- Present solutions and recommendations to senior client stakeholders with clarity, credibility, and impact.
- Balance customer priorities, technical considerations, project deadlines, and commercial requirements when making decisions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across the practice by identifying opportunities to enhance capabilities, processes, and solution quality.
Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency with XML, REST, SOAP, and JSON, together with knowledge of an object-oriented programming language, preferably J2EE.
- Workday HCM certification or relevant experience with comparable HCM or ERP platforms.
- Proven experience designing applications that solve complex business and technical challenges.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing, web services, integrations, and the associated technical challenges.
- Excellent customer focus, with the ability to assess needs, build strong relationships, manage expectations, and confidently escalate or challenge when necessary.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote environment.
- Experience presenting technical solutions and recommendations to senior client audiences.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of project delivery, business priorities, and customer dynamics.
- Broad knowledge of business and technology, with awareness of trends across HR technology and the wider industry.
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and make balanced, well-reasoned decisions under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, combined with a practical approach to solution design.
- Experience with middleware or other application development platforms is a plus.
- Additional proficiency in object-oriented programming or web development languages is advantageous.
- Experience designing workflows to solve business and technical problems is desirable.
- Previous experience managing, mentoring, or developing technical teams is beneficial.
- A collaborative, adaptable, and proactive approach, with a willingness to share knowledge and contribute to the growth of others.
