Project Manager - Strategic Projects Portfolio (SPP) - Fairburn, GA

About The Role
The Strategic Projects Portfolio Project Manager provides leadership and oversight for distribution projects and budget lines within the strategic project portfolio. This role is responsible for project development, project execution, budget management, and coordination with internal stakeholders inside and outside the distribution organization. The role primarily supports an area of focus across Georgia and requires occasional travel for meetings and cross-functional collaboration.
Education
- A four (4) year degree is required, BS in Science/Engineering is a plus.
Experience
- Minimum 4 years of Distribution, Transmission or project management experience is required.
- Experience presenting projects at the DPRT, TPRT and T&D committees is preferred
- Experience engineering/constructing and leading large industrial and commercial projects, Customer Choice, and other complex distribution design projects strongly preferred
- Proven commitment to Safety Excellence
- Proven record of working effectively with internal and external partners
- Influencer and champion of inclusion through words and actions
- Experience managing capital and O&M budgets is a plus
- Experience with project management tracking [P6, Maximo, Fulcrum, Unifier, etc] and software a plus
- Experience with storm response is preferred
- Operations experience with the distribution system, estimating, and applications knowledge (TCMS, ARMS, JETS)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, effective in oral and written communications, facilitation of meetings, and able to build and maintain relationships with varied contacts both outside and within the company
- Ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional partners
- Established relationships with the Distribution region leadership teams are a plus
- Ensure safety and quality standards are upheld throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate design, engineering, procurement, land acquisition, and construction activities for multiple distribution projects aligned with distribution capital investment initiatives.
- Support deconflicting process across SPP and the distribution capital portfolio.
- Communicate project status regularly to stakeholders, including Distribution Management, Regions, T&D, Planning, and Capital Governance teams; escalate issues affecting cost, schedule, or public impact to appropriate stakeholders.
- Monitor project costs and forecasts, manage scope changes, and obtain required approvals prior to construction.
- Define project tasks, milestones, and resource needs while balancing cost, schedule, regulatory, environmental, and community considerations.
- Track project progress, resolve issues with internal and external partners, and adjust plans as conditions change.
- Expedite documentation to secure timely approvals.
- Support emergency restoration efforts, including work outside normal business hours as required.
- Fluent with principles of construction, operation and maintenance of distribution operations and equipment
- Ability to work with various levels of leadership, contractors and state-wide employees
- Excellent oral and written communications skills with peers and all levels of management
- Experience with contracts related to engineering and construction
- Strong collaboration skills required to effectively and routinely work together with Region and Corporate Distribution leadership to plan and execute capital work
- A self-starter able to meet high team expectations in a new area of the business
- Demonstrates ability to think strategically and help others do the same to drive strategic initiatives
- Demonstrates personal ownership, accountability, motivation
- Must be a team player who seeks the greater good for the company

Job Duties
