Position Summary
Safety is the primary focus of this position. Responsible for assisting guests on and off chairlifts and maintaining snow surface for the guest’s safety. This position requires a high level of guest interaction.
Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities
- The focus is on positive interaction with our guests, safe operation of chairlift equipment and the safety of the guests while they are utilizing our lift system.
- Maintain lift ramp and snow removal. At times you may be required to physically lift/assist children and handicapped skiers onto chairlifts.
- Position requires maintaining radio coordination with several other mountain operations departments throughout the day.
- You will be required to assist with ticket validations throughout the day.
- Employees may work alone at times throughout the day for up to two hours.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Shovel snow
- Physically lift/assist children and handicapped skiers onto chairlifts.
- Must have extensive knowledge of Schweitzer Mountain Resort facilities and events.
- Other duties as assigned
Specific Job Skills
- License/Certifications - None
- Technical - None
- Physical Capabilities - Able to stand outside in all weather conditions and temperatures. Able to assist guests stand up with possibility of lifting 50+ pounds.
- Additional - Previous skiing or snowboarding experience is a plus but not required. Good communication skills required; guest service; team spirit attitude.
Education/Related Experience
- Minimum education required - English reading, writing and communication skills, basic math skills.
- Minimum time in a related position - Skiing or snowboarding background helpful but not required.
Equipment and Safety/Protective Equipment Used
- Equipment Used: Hand tools, shovels, brooms, Pulaski, rakes, drills, snow blowers, chairlifts.
- Gear provided – Helmet, Snow pants, inner snow jacket, and outer shell jacket.
- Gear NOT provided – Hat, gloves, base layers, boots, board, skis.
