KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Achieving Zamara’s ambitious strategic priorities will be complex and challenging. Its continued success will be dependent on building and retaining a world-class team.

The Financial Advisor is responsible for originating and managing client relationships across our pension, insurance and wealth management propositions for retail clients. Acting as a trusted technical expert, the role drives the delivery of Zamara’s Wealth Management solution — enabling personalized investment strategies, tailored insurance solutions and effective pension fund management for retail clients in Kenya.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development and Origination

  • Identify, acquire and onboard new individual clients across target segments.
  • Generate high-quality leads and diligently follow up on prospective opportunities.
  • Cultivate referrals and new business through proactive networking and client engagement.
  • Develop and execute personal sales plans to consistently achieve monthly and annual targets.
  • Build and maintain a healthy, well-managed sales pipeline within the CRM system.

Client Advisory and Relationship Management

  • Recommend appropriate solutions informed by rigorous needs analysis and risk assessment.
  • Design bespoke financial and investment plans aligned to each client’s objectives.
  • Establish and nurture enduring, long-term client relationships.
  • Educate clients on market trends, investment solutions and sound financial planning strategies.
  • Conduct periodic portfolio reviews and recommend timely, appropriate adjustments.

Financial Planning

  • Partner closely with clients to understand their financial circumstances and goals, developing tailored plans to help them achieve those objectives.
  • Provide holistic guidance across products — including pensions, investments, insurance and trusts — aligned to each client’s objectives and risk appetite.
  • Recommend and execute business strategies consistent with the Group’s commercial objectives.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure all client onboarding documentation fully meets KYC and AML requirements.
  • Ensure all client engagements and transactions adhere to Zamara’s and industry compliance standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of RBA, IRA, CBK and related regulations, market trends and economic developments.

Market Intelligence

  • Keep clients informed of significant market trends and developments.
  • Monitor local and global financial trends across relevant markets.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to remain abreast of emerging trends, products and regulations.

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Client Advisory Excellence — proven ability to deliver holistic financial advice and outstanding service to retail clients.
  • Market & Product Expertise — sound understanding of current local, regional and global financial markets and wealth management products.
  • Business Acumen — demonstrable track record of growing assets under management (AUM) and generating revenue through strategic business development.
  • Professional Integrity — unwavering commitment to the highest standards of discretion, compliance and ethical conduct.

Personal Qualities and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in financial services, relationship management, wealth management, banking or insurance sales
  • Financial Planning and Finance skills.
  • Retirement Planning and Investments expertise.
  • Good knowledge of Industry retail solutions and products.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.
  • Relationship building & networking skills.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • Certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Wealth Manager (CWM), Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments (CISI), Executive Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance (ECOP) are highly desirable.
  • Experience in Investment and Life insurance, highly preferred
