Mineral Processing Learnership Program 18.2 ROLE PROFILE GENERAL Date September 2026 Location Aggeneys, Northern Cape Operations (Please indicate the operation – by ticking the appropriate box) GB BMM Job Grade Retainer ROLE CONTEXT Vedanta Zinc International (VZI) operates two major mining complexes in the Northern Cape: · Gamsberg – a large-scale open ‑ pit zinc mine requiring precise spatial control, accurate volumetric reporting and continuous survey support to enable safe, efficient and compliant mining to optimise profitability and longevity of the operation. · Black Mountain Mine (BMM) – an underground operation where survey accuracy directly influences development alignment, stope design, ore flow reconciliation and statutory compliance. The learner must successfully complete the required theoretical training, workplace practical training and assessments and demonstrate competence against the applicable occupational/learnership. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE To participate in structured theoretical and practical training in mineral processing operations while developing the skills, knowledge, and competencies required to operate and monitor mineral processing equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with company standards, legal requirements, and operational procedures. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Training and Development · Attend all scheduled theoretical and practical training sessions. · Complete assignments, logbooks, assessments, and workplace portfolios. · Demonstrate continuous learning and skills development. 2. Plant Operations · Assist in operating mineral processing equipment under supervision. · Monitor crushing, milling, screening, flotation, thickening, and filtration processes. · Conduct routine inspections of plant equipment. · Record operational data accurately. 3. Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) · Adhere to Mine Health and Safety Act requirements. · Follow all company safety procedures and standards. · Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). · Report unsafe conditions and incidents immediately. · Participate in safety meetings and risk assessments. 4. Housekeeping · Maintain good housekeeping standards in work areas. · Assist in cleaning equipment and workstations. · Ensure tools and equipment are stored correctly. 5. Communication and Teamwork · Work effectively within a team environment. · Communicate operational issues to supervisors. · Participate actively in toolbox talks and shift handovers. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Qualifications · Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science. Minimum Requirements · Grade 12 / Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science (preferred). · Medically fit for mining and plant operations. · Ability to work shifts and in a production environment. · Basic communication and numerical skills. Technical Competence · Basic understanding of mineral processing principles. · Equipment monitoring and operation. · Sampling and process control. · Data recording and reporting.
