About The Role
What We’re Looking For
Michael Baker International is seeking a Bridge Civil Associate to join our growing Baltimore Bridge team. In this role, you will work alongside project engineers and senior project managers to perform technical bridge engineering work and deliver high-quality services.
As our Baltimore office and national bridge practice continue to grow, you will have the opportunity to join a talented team and contribute to meaningful bridge projects. This position is a great opportunity for an early-career engineer interested in developing experience in bridge design, structural analysis, inspection, and multidisciplinary project delivery. The position will be based in the office with the Baltimore team.
What You’ll Do
- Perform structural analysis and prepare design calculations.
- Develop or assist with structural details and construction plans.
- Prepare geometric and bridge layouts, construction specifications, and material quantity calculations.
- Perform bridge inspections.
- Collaborate with professionals across highway, traffic, civil, planning, and other disciplines.
- Support a variety of bridge and transportation projects.
- Work with project engineers and senior project managers to deliver accurate, high-quality engineering work.
What You Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- 0 - 3 years of experience in bridge design, structural analysis, bridge inspection, or related engineering work.
- Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to quality and attention to detail.
- Experience with finite element software, bridge design software, Microsoft Office, and computer-aided drafting is preferred.
- MicroStation experience is preferred.
- Engineer-in-Training certification, or the ability to obtain it within six months of employment, is required.
- Familiarity with AASHTO and MDOT design and construction standards is preferred.
- Certified Bridge Safety Inspector credential such as the NHI two-week bridge inspection certification is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members from multiple engineering disciplines.
Compensation
The approximate compensation range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skill set, and physical work location.
