Data & Automation Analyst - Estimating
Fa Exrr Saasfaprod1 · Woodbridge, NJ, United States
About The Role
About the Role
Structure Tone is one of the largest construction management and general contracting firms in the country. We are hiring a Data & Automation Analyst to support the New Jersey Estimating department through data management, reporting, analytics, Google-platform development, AI agent development, and process automation.
You will work directly with estimators and preconstruction teams to understand how the work actually gets done, then turn that understanding into Power BI dashboards, curated BigQuery data sets, and AI agents that reduce manual effort across the estimating lifecycle, from RFP intake through budgeting, bidding, bid review, and leveling.
This role sits within the NJ Estimating team and will use the shared STO Building Group data platform and approved enterprise tools. The analyst will collaborate with the central Data and Analytics team to ensure NJ Estimating solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, integration, and data governance standards. Successful solutions developed for NJ Estimating may be adapted for broader use across STO Building Group.
Key Responsibilities
Business Partnership & Requirements
- Support NJ Estimating in gathering requirements from estimators, preconstruction teams, and operations; document existing workflows and help establish measurable success criteria.
- Assist in translating established estimating processes and business requirements into clear specifications for reports, data sets, AI agents, and automations.
- Partner with the enterprise Data Engineering team to enable onboarding of new data source systems when required data is not yet available on the platform.
- Document what you build and support the people who use it.
Data Access & Preparation (Google Cloud / BigQuery)
- Write, optimize, and document SQL queries and views in BigQuery to produce reporting-ready data sets.
- Validate data quality and reconcile reporting outputs against source systems.
- Use Python for data exploration, transformation, analysis, and lightweight automation.
- Follow the naming, access, and governance standards set by the Data & Analytics team.
Reporting & Analytics (Power BI)
- Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for the Estimating team, including semantic data modeling, Power Query transformations, and DAX measure development.
- Develop estimating-focused reporting on historical cost data, cost benchmarking, RFP trends, bid comparisons, trade-level analysis, and leveling outcomes.
- Maintain and enhance cost benchmarking data sets covering project type, square footage, trade costs, bid results, escalation factors, and comparable project metrics.
- Support adoption through training, reporting standards, and day-to-day user support.
AI Agents & Process Automation
- Prototype and test AI agents for estimating use cases such as RFP intake and summarization, bid package review, subcontractor comparison, scope gap identification, and bid leveling support.
- Help develop evaluation criteria for AI agent outputs and test solutions against approved estimating scenarios, documenting accuracy, reliability, security, and data governance concerns before rollout.
- Build Microsoft Copilot and Power Automate workflows that connect estimating documents, data, and dashboards to reduce recurring manual tasks.
- Collaborate with the Data & Analytics team on deployment, security review, and the support model for anything moving from prototype to production.

- Demonstrated Power BI experience, including data modeling, Power Query, DAX, and dashboards for business users.
- Working knowledge of Python for data transformation and analysis (pandas or equivalent).
- Hands-on exposure to a cloud data platform, ideally Google Cloud and BigQuery.
- Proven ability to gather requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translate them into working solutions.
- Comfort working through evolving requirements, sound judgment about when to clarify requirements versus when to proceed, and a habit of documenting decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience building or evaluating LLM-based agents (Gemini Enterprise, Microsoft Copilot, or comparable), including prompt design and output evaluation.
- Microsoft 365 and Power Automate workflow development.

- Version control (Git) and a basic understanding of orchestration tools such as Airflow / Cloud Composer.
- Familiarity with construction cost structures, CSI divisions, or estimating software.
- Construction, engineering, real estate, or professional services industry background.
