About The Role
Position Summary: The Junior High Youth Ministry Coordinator shall be a practicing Catholic with an active faith and a commitment to living and promoting Christian values. The coordinator supports the spiritual and social needs of the parish’s youth, encourages growth in holiness, and helps young people build a strong foundation in the Catholic faith. This position reports to the Director of Faith Formation. Part-time position with attendance on Wednesday evenings, and specific weekend events as needed.
Requirements
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare, lead, and facilitate weekly junior high youth ministry gatherings with joy and confidence. (3 hours per week)
- Ensure the assigned Wednesday evening liturgical duties of junior high students are fulfilled throughout the school year.
- Maintain an active relational ministry with students and their families.
- Assist in keeping accurate records for student attendance, registrations and
permission slips, payments received, etc.
- Work closely with all junior high volunteer leaders to create a team environment and be a liaison between them and the DRE to identify needs.
- Assist in organizing all storage facilities (classroom, closets, etc.) for junior high youth
activities and implement a procedure for using youth ministry snacks and supplies.
- Operate technology such smart TV's, portable projectors, screens, laptops, etc.
- Abide by and enforce all safe environment compliance standards while working
with the youth of the parish.
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic in full sacramental communion with the Catholic Church and committed to Catholic teaching and values.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Catholic theology, Scripture, morality, spirituality, evangelization, and adolescent faith formation.
- Ability to effectively engage junior high youth and volunteers while working independently and collaboratively.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and all Safe Environment and Archdiocesan formation requirements.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Two years of experience in youth ministry, catechesis, religious education, parish leadership, or related ministry, will be considered.
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
- Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
Working Conditions
- All employees of the Parish are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the church.
- The Parish is an at-will employer.
- All buildings and vehicles owned by the Parish are tobacco free.
- Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
- Working on weekends, evenings, and some holidays may be required.
- Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech, including Roman Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations.
- Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.
