We are looking for an apprentice to join our Power business division within the Jones Lighting team who offer a range of high-quality services to our clients including street lighting, ICP Works, DNO Contractor Services and LV Overhead Line works, Electrical Design, Car Charging Solutions and HV and Cable Lay works.

You will join the team who deliver bespoke street lighting solutions, based out of our Kirkburton (Huddersfield) depot and some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Electrical & Highway Installation: Working alongside senior technicians to install, maintain, test, and repair low-voltage highway electrical equipment (e.g., street lighting, illuminated signs, traffic signals).
  • Site Safety & Compliance: Applying exemplary health, safety, and environmental procedures on site in full compliance with NHSS8 and HERS sector standards.
  • Testing & Fault Finding: Assisting with initial verification, electrical inspection, testing, and fault diagnosis.
  • Emergency Attendance: Participating in emergency call-outs and repair work (e.g., vehicular damage to roadside electrical assets) alongside experienced staff.

As an apprentice with United Infrastructure, you’ll be given a real job from day one where you will gain hands-on industry experience, and the knowledge required to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.

In order to fully develop in your role, you will be enrolled onto the Level 3 Electrical Installation apprenticeship qualification with our training partner Kirklees College. You will attend sessions at college, typically weekly during term-time and will receive one-to-one support from your tutor or coach. They will also meet regularly with you and your line manager to ensure you are progressing through your programme.

In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have

  • GCSEs at Grade 9-4/A*-C including English and Mathematics
  • Good organisation, time management and communication skills
  • Able to reliably commute to and from our Kirkburton depot (HD8 0PW) for early morning starts.
  • Aged 18+ and have a full driving licence as this role requires you to travel to our project sites.

You must also be available to start full-time work now

Please note, as this is an apprenticeship programme, in order to be eligible to apply you must not already have an equivalent level or higher qualification in the occupational area, or significant work experience.

Upon successful completion of your programme, you will achieve

  • Level 3 Electrical Installation Apprenticeship
  • City and Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation (part 1 and 2)
  • AM2
  • 2391 Inspection and Testing
  • HEA and HERS training
  • Able to apply for Technician Membership (TMIET) of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET)
  • Electrotechnical Joint Industry Board for ECS Gold Card
