Job Description
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Reporting Manager to join our team! In this role you will lead the planning, coordination, analysis, and delivery of accurate and timely project reporting for a large-scale, multi-disciplinary mega project.
The role will provide senior leadership with clear visibility of project progress, cost, schedule, risk, procurement, contracts, quality, health and safety, and overall performance.
The successful candidate will establish robust reporting systems, consolidate information from multiple project functions and stakeholders, identify trends and variances, and support informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
What You'll Be Doing
- Project Reporting and Performance Management
- Lead the preparation and issuance of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc project reports.
- Develop integrated reporting processes covering scope, schedule, cost, resources, procurement, contracts, risk, quality, and HSE performance.
- Consolidate data from engineering, construction, commercial, procurement, finance, commissioning, and operations teams.
- Ensure reports are accurate, consistent, traceable, and submitted within agreed deadlines.
- Prepare executive dashboards and performance summaries for the Project Director, steering committees, clients, and senior stakeholders.
- Monitor progress against approved baselines and identify delays, trends, risks, and emerging issues.
- Analyze key performance indicators and provide clear commentary on project status and forecast outcomes.
- Maintain project reporting calendars, templates, guidelines, and governance procedures.
- Schedule and Progress Reporting
- Coordinate with the planning and project controls teams to validate progress measurement and schedule performance.
- Track critical path activities, milestones, deliverables, interfaces, and key handover dates.
- Review schedule updates, progress narratives, recovery plans, and delay reports.
- Highlight variances between planned, actual, and forecast progress.
- Support the preparation of mitigation and recovery reporting for delayed or underperforming areas.
- Cost and Commercial Reporting
- Coordinate with cost control and commercial teams to report approved budgets, commitments, actual costs, forecasts, and variances.
- Monitor cost performance and provide clear explanations for deviations.
- Support reporting on change orders, claims, variations, contingencies, and commercial risks.
- Ensure alignment between cost, schedule, progress, and forecast reporting.
- Contribute to earned value and performance analysis where applicable.
- Risk, Issue, and Change Reporting
- Maintain consolidated reporting of project risks, issues, opportunities, assumptions, and dependencies.
- Monitor the status of mitigation actions and escalation requirements.
- Report on approved, pending, and potential changes to project scope, cost, and schedule.
- Ensure that reporting reflects the current risk and change position of the project.
- Support project governance meetings by preparing decision papers and action trackers.
- Stakeholder and Governance Reporting
- Prepare reporting packs for project leadership meetings, client reviews and client steering committee / c-Suite level presentations.
- Coordinate input from internal departments, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and joint-venture partners.
- Manage reporting interfaces across multiple work packages, geographic locations, and project entities.
- Ensure compliance with contractual, organizational, and client reporting requirements.
- Track decisions, actions, responsibilities, and due dates arising from governance meetings.
- Systems, Data, and Continuous Improvement
- Establish and maintain standardized reporting tools, dashboards, databases, and information workflows.
- Promote data quality, consistency, and a single source of truth across the project.
- Identify opportunities to automate and improve reporting processes.
- Develop reporting guidance, user instructions, and quality-control procedures.
- Conduct regular checks to verify the integrity and reliability of project information.
- Support the implementation and administration of project controls and reporting systems.
- Team Leadership
- Lead, coordinate, and mentor reporting analysts, project controls professionals, and reporting coordinators.
- Establish clear responsibilities, performance expectations, and development plans for the reporting team.
- Promote a collaborative, accountable, and data-driven working culture.
- Coordinate reporting activities across project offices, contractors, consultants, and delivery teams.
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business Administration, Finance, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
- Relevant certifications may include:
- PMP
- APM
- PRINCE2
- PMI-SP
- RICS
- AACE certification
- Certified Cost Professional
- Power BI or data analytics certifications
- Required Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in project reporting, project controls, performance management, or a related field.
- Experience supporting major or mega projects with significant budgets, multiple contractors, and complex stakeholder environments.
- Experience in at least one of the following sectors:
- Infrastructure
- Construction
- Transportation
- Rail and metro
- Airports
- Oil and gas
- Energy and utilities
- Industrial facilities
- Real estate development
- Telecommunications
- Demonstrated experience preparing reports for senior executives, clients, joint-venture partners, and steering committees.
- Strong understanding of project controls, cost management, planning, risk management, contracts, and change control.
- Experience working with integrated project management or enterprise reporting systems.
