About The Role
Nursing Supervisor / Charge RN
Position Summary
Provides leadership and oversight of patient care operations during the assigned shift. Coordinates clinical activities, supports staff performance and development, promotes quality and safety standards, and ensures the delivery of exceptional patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Performs job responsibilities outlined in the competency document, including but not limited to patient care management duties that maintain organized workflow and effective communication.
- Assists with staff development and evaluation, performance improvement initiatives, and staffing coordination during the assigned shift.
- Ensures compliance with established unit standards, policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Coordinates patient care activities and serves as a clinical resource for staff during the assigned shift.
- Manages employee-related concerns, complaints, and issues in a professional manner to foster a positive work environment.
- Assesses patient needs through history, observation, physical examination, and analysis of diagnostic data.
- Provides age-appropriate nursing interventions consistent with the plan of care and professional nursing standards.
- Demonstrates commitment to professional growth by setting goals, participating in educational opportunities, and supporting department initiatives.
- Contributes to hospital and system-wide initiatives that promote nursing excellence and Evidence-Based Practice.
- Fosters an environment of caring, compassion, and respect for patients, families, visitors, and colleagues.
- Promotes collaboration and positive working relationships across departments.
- Supervises and ensures the appropriate use of health and safety equipment to protect patients and staff.
- Participates in maintaining the fiscal responsibility of the unit.
- Utilizes standard work practices related to Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience required.
- Advanced resuscitative certification appropriate to the patient population required within six (6) months of hire.
Licensure & Certifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Job Type full-time; 72 hours biweekly; nights 7p-7a; including weekends and holidays
