Job Purpose: As the Factory Manager / Washery Head in a coal mine, the primary objective is to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the washery facility, achieving optimal performance targets, and adherence to maintenance schedules. This role involves overseeing mechanical and electrical maintenance, implementing improvement projects, managing operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, budget monitoring, vendor development, and fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement within the washery department.

Factory Manager or Washery Head - Coal Mining

Managing Washery Operations

  • Manage Washery, CHP & CPP, HEMM operations, ensuring adherence to production targets and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with the mining team to maintain the required feed rate and coal quality.
  • Conduct regular plant visits to monitor working conditions and address operational issues promptly.
  • Handle customer complaints/feedback to enhance washery operations to meet desired coal quality and sizing requirements.

Budget Monitoring and Resource Management

  • Prepare and monitor manpower, revenue, and Capex budgets, ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
  • Assist in contract negotiation and authorize the purchase of spare parts, consumables, and equipment.
  • Control inventory costs and ensure timely commissioning of Capex items within budget.

Statutory Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations related to electrical, mechanical, and environmental safety.
  • Maintain compliance with CEIG, Factory (E&M), CSPDCL, CGPCB, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are certified and healthy to prevent incidents and accidents.

Maintenance Program Implementation

  • Implement predictive/preventive maintenance schedules for Washery, CHP, Silo, HEMM, and other facilities.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance programs (BD, PM, CM) to enhance departmental effectiveness.
  • Ensure achievement of availability and reliability performance targets for critical equipment and systems.

Project Planning and Execution

  • Plan and implement internal engineering services projects to improve productivity and safety.
  • Monitor daily progress of projects and expedite by providing necessary resources.

Vendor Development and Standardization

  • Develop and standardize vendors to reduce costs and improve availability of spare parts and equipment.
  • Analyze breakdowns and take corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
