CNC Steel Fabrication Operator

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire

• Pay: Up to $27.00/hour, based on experience
• Shifts: 1st and 2nd shifts available
• 2nd Shift Differential: Additional $3.00/hour

Position Overview

We are seeking a CNC Steel Machine Operator to operate and monitor CNC equipment used in steel fabrication. The ideal candidate has experience with CNC plasma cutting, sawing, drilling, or similar fabrication machinery and is comfortable handling steel materials with overhead cranes.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare CNC equipment and make adjustments as needed for production.
• Determine the correct material type, size, and dimensions for each job.
• Measure and inspect steel to confirm it meets required specifications.
• Transfer or mark part information onto materials as required.
• Document production activity and material usage accurately.
• Perform basic machine maintenance and assist with equipment troubleshooting.
• Operate overhead cranes and material transfer/convey systems safely.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience operating a CNC plasma table or performing steel sawing, drilling, or cutting operations.
• Experience with one or more of the following:
• Kinetic Plasma Table
• Peddinghaus Saw/Drill Line
• Peddinghaus Angle Master
• Ficep Beamline
• Experience operating overhead cranes and handling steel materials.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure to 1/16 inch.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
• Ability to remain standing for extended periods.
• Ability to work in both hot and cold environments.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, symbols, and notes.

Preferred Experience

• Tekla PowerFab experience.
• Additional experience with steel-processing or CNC fabrication equipment.
