About the role
As Finance Business Partner Sweden, you will take on a broad and visible role at the heart of the business, combining strategic partnership with hands-on financial analysis.
You will work closely with site management, functional leaders and cost centre owners, turning financial data into clear insights, recommendations and actions. You will lead the local budget and forecasting processes, follow up financial performance and key performance indicators, support period-end closing and help the organisation make well-informed business decisions.
The role also gives you the opportunity to represent the Sweden site in close collaboration with Global Finance and colleagues across countries and functions. It is a strong opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys both influencing the business and working close to the numbers. You will report to the Global Finance Business Partner Manufacturing.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with site management, functional managers and cost centre owners, providing financial insight and constructive challenge to support sound business decisions.
- Represent the Sweden site in collaboration with Global Finance, ensuring alignment on financial priorities, targets and planning assumptions.
- Lead the annual budget and regular forecasting processes for Sweden and coordinate the site’s contribution to the Valneva Group planning cycle.
- Partner with local and Global HR to ensure all workforce-related costs are accurately reflected.
- Turn financial data into clear reports, commentary and recommendations for management, period-end reporting and business planning.
- Work closely with the local accounting team during period-end closing, including accruals, profit and loss analysis, and review of actual results against budget and forecast.
- Monitor financial and operational key performance indicators, working capital, costs and sales to identify trends, deviations, risks and opportunities.
- Present financial performance and recommended actions to the Managing Director, Senior Leadership Team and relevant performance review meetings.
- Evaluate business cases, market opportunities and capital expenditure requests, including return-on-investment analysis and follow-up of project spend.
- Drive continuous improvement of Finance processes, reporting and ways of working through cross-functional and international collaboration.
- Take ownership of assigned SOX controls and contribute to relevant local and company-wide initiatives.
Requirements
Requirement and Experience
- An academic degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
- At least five years of relevant experience in Business Controlling, Financial Planning and Analysis, Finance Business Partnering or a similar role.
- Hands-on experience in budgeting, forecasting, period-end closing, profit and loss analysis, management reporting and performance follow-up.
- Strong business understanding and the ability to turn financial data into clear insights and recommendations.
- Good knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), internal controls and financial compliance.
- Experience working with internal controls, financial compliance and International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, with advanced Excel skills and experience using Power BI or similar business intelligence and reporting tools.
- Full professional proficiency in Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
It is an advantage if you have
- Experience in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals or life sciences.
- Experience working in an international or global organisation.
- Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
- Experience working with SAP, Prevero or similar enterprise resource planning and financial planning systems.

This is a permanent, full-time position based at our Solna site, with a six-month probationary period.
We believe collaboration is strongest when we meet in person, while still offering flexibility. The role therefore follows Valneva Sweden’s hybrid working model, with at least 50% of working time spent on-site in Solna.
